My left rear ABS sensor copped a rock near Dalhousie Springs 2 weeks ago. The computer at Birdsville identified the problem sensor as left rear as did my mechanic today. It meant that ABS, traction and stability controls all went to lunch and lit up the relevant dash lights but did nothing else to stop progress. Sometimes the lights went out and all systems worked again for 10 mins or an hour. Anyway today my mechanic pulled it out and cleaned the crud off it and saw that it had been bent. He straightened it and cleared the codes and it is now working ok but he says it should be replaced. Problem: toyota have none because they never sell any and when one gets here it will be $290+ GST! He suggests that I locate second hand one. Question: are all 4 ABS sensord the same, or different front ot rear and or left to right? Anyone know of a 120 Prado wreck or wrecker in Sydney. Or does anyone happen to have one spare? Neil

The sensors all work independently of each other sending signals to the ABS module, I dont know if each sensor has the same part number, but I would presume that would not matter as the sensor only activates your ABS module if the offending wheel has stopped while all the others are still moving97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.
