Yes, the LC79 Dual Cab will be a great vehicle to purchase and keep for a long time.

The problem is even though it does not suite my everyday requirements at all, I still want one. Would be a great touring vehicle with another 10-15k put into it, can't wait to take one for a test drive!.

Not the Safest, Not the nicest to drive, Handles like a truck, features list can be counted on one hand, over priced, but tough as nails.

Sounds like my kind of rig

I think they are still talking another 5 years of production, Prado whould be due for an upgrade by then and the 70 series is high on my list for a replacement. Might have to get the last one they sell in Australia lol.

      Cheers Andrew

Yes I also will be seriously looking at the dual cab as an upgrade just as long as they have built them properly, and not rushed it as I will be planning to keeping it well past the warranty date!

Some say that the 1HD-FT was even better for really hard core stuff. (lots of water) It has the 24 valves of the 1HD-FTE but without the vulnerable electrics.

Having said that.... I really like the 1HD-FTE too. It has gobs of power and tourque and proven itself to be very reliable long term.
2008 Diesel Prado with extra stuff added. I drive it on the road and other places too.

I heard that the current 70 series weren't nearly as reliable as Toyota makes them out to be...

Now, an ORIGINAL 70 series troopie - well, that's another story!
