      lift and cost

Hi all, I just took some pics of the bilsteins and lovells loaded and unloaded for comparison. Loaded pics are 1380kg in camper and 100kg in back of prado and full tanks of fuel, unloaded is just without the camper but all else the same.

Hardly noticed the difference between loaded and unloaded.

          lift

I didn't actually get a tape on to measure when loaded up but it looked to be only down by 5-10mm. I will try to measure it when I pack up in a few days. The springs are a med-heavy type I believe. No complaints about the suspension but could do with a little more power for hill starts and sand when towing.

How do you find the BF's?

            Extra Fuel Consumption?
            On Road Performance?
            Extra Road Noise?
            Off Road?

How much and I presume you can't get the hard wheel cover onto the door?

              suspension lift & cost

              Hi Up The Creek

The BFG's are great, noiser than the Dunlops on road but I am much happier with their performance both on road and off road. I wasn't watching the fuel consumption very closely while using the dunlops so I can't compare but currently I get around 10L/100km average. I think when I bought the tyres they were fitted and balanced including an alignment for $1050. I don't have a hard wheel cover so I am not sure if it would fit over a BFG spare or not.

Damn it! I NEVER get better than 17l/100km around town. (Best ever was 14.5l/100km and that was highway cruising with full load, roof racks and packed roof bag) Does this mean when I upgrade to STT's that I am looking at 19l/100km. Jeez I hope not! Might have to consider liposuction on the right foot.

After I fitted my winch the front end really dropped so I fitted HD king springs to the front and STD raised to the rear. Was happy with the lift but due to the budget couldn't do shockies straight away. Anyway, fitted Bilsteins the other night. MAN, what a difference!  Totally changed the car. I've had two different TJM lift kits on different cars before but nothing compares! Absolutely awesome, if you can afford it, go the whole lot! Awesome!

                      Thanks

ditto, the change of a full system done in a day is unreal.
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

Just drove back from finally having my Bilsteins, Lovells & Polys fitted and 50mm lift.

                          Wow, what a difference.

Thank You raydes for providing me with a few places to try in Perth.

I have to give a big plug to Autoride. They are Old School in the pride and dedication to their work and they take things really slow. Sure beats the pimply eyed younguns that don't tend to give a hoot these days.

                          Could not be happier!

Bring on the Fishing & Camping in 2 weeks!

Wow, everyone's happy with theirs - means I'll have to get one.

After spending the equivalent of the national debt on the car, how do I make a case for spending a few more grand - 'cause if I get the lift kit, I might as well get the dual batts and winch...

                            Pharque!!!!

"might as well".... that's my theory... once the bar goes on the front will drop a little... then i'll just "have" to re-do the springs!

My upgrade want started 3 weeks ago. Went with a mate, fishing / camping on the beach, 250km away. Had 180kg in the back and 100kg on the roof. Back end was sagging a good 2 inches. Car was bottoming out badly on the beach.

The missus said, get them end of next year.

I said: whether I get them, today, next month or in 2 years, eventually I'm going to have to get them.

So she tells me to drive it like it is.

To which I get a sparkle in me eye (the evil grin) and say, "Yes, but what price safety? And if something happened to me on the road because the sagging suspension didn't allow me to brake in time..."

Use the safety aspect all the time.

Bigger and more costly tires? If I get stuck somewhere on the beach it'll cost thousands to get me pulled out or worse, no mobile coverage and I could persish on the beach.

                                Good Luck!

Edit: The winch you need to pull you to safety.

The spare battery is a safety precaution in case the main one dies.
