  • My new 150 T/D revvs high going down hill

    Hi Guys
This is my first post so I will keep it short. I picked up my new T/D 150 in metal storm last month and have noticed just one thing that's a bit concerning. While going down the hill at Bulla in vic the car started revving to about 2 grand. I contacted the dealer and was fobbed of. This has happened a couple of times since. Just wondering if this is a program issue or is normal ( like the dealer said )
    Any comments would be appreciated.

I am pressuming you have an auto?

The Auto box will change down when going down hill to add engine braking, so it sounds normal enough to me.

    Cheers Andrew

              Hi Uncle Porky,
Did you have cruise on when this happened? Because like Andrew said it will use engine braking to keep it to the right speed when cruise is on.
              Cheers, Josh

I think you will find that it will only do this when it is in "D"
Drive it in Sport mode and it won't do it.

                  Hi Guys
I rekon Andrew is absolutly on the money. It is an auto and yes I love it to bits . I find it interesting that the car knows when we are going down a hill and need assistance with engine braking. It wasn't in cruise at the time but it dosen't concern me at all anymore. Thanks for all your comments . I will be starting a rig build up thread for the old girl early in the new year.

We don't haved many hills around here so I dont normally notice it, but when I have been to the high country I noticed it and played around to work it out. I think (fuzzy memory) that if you take your foot of the accelerator; as you would going down a long hill; I think this tells the auto to change down, it wount change down anymore than is safe rev wise though.

Looking forward to the rig build Porky.

                    Cheers Andrew

No joke.. What's a hill!? Haha.

I think it down changes when you tap the brakes but like you I haven't been down a hill in months so couldn't confirm.

On my 150 the gearbox only changes down if it is in D mode and I touch the brake on a downhill. It doesn't do it with cruise control on.

I like the feature and use it deliberately on downhills.

now that you mention it tapping the brakes might have been the trigger, like I said memory is a bit fuzzy as Its a couple of years since I have been in the high country and played around with this.
