Well as some of you know i probably have one of the last 1kz 120 series around and after 200,000 faithful kms i decided to treat Vera (if you have ever seen firefly you will get it) to a xmas present. As after a lot of discussion over xmas the wifey and i have decided to keep her for a little while longer yet

So taking the Roo's advice 4 new injectors and 4 new glow plugs later all i can say is OMFG old vera nearly jumped off the Dyno i had not realised how much power the old girl had lost. The old injectors were terrible to the point that 1 literally fell apart in the technicians hand after he had got it out (sorry we were so shocked i forgot to take a photo)

Next month is cooling overhaul month then all will be good

There is nothing new or revolutionary about changing injectors!

Any diesel mechanic or individual who's been around diesels would have given you the same advice.

Ok Wooley we obviously go off on the wrong foot this morning so maybe I will explain a bit further, a couple of things you should know
I know sweet nothing about mechanics and treat my car like my work computer i.e if it does not work I ring someone and go and have a coffee whilst they make it work, for the last 7 years this approach has worked. However now that my car has some miles on it the maintenance has become a bit more complex. You may not agree with this approach but I recon about 90% of the driving population would probably go the same way

So with regards to the injectors it was not as easy as your original comment of “anyone can tell you that” as I found out as I went and consulted some people and guess what answers I got.

My own mind = how would I know
A Diesel reconditioner in Perth = Nah mate only change em when the car is going crap
Another Diesel reconditioner in Perth = oh yeah they will be stuffed and so will your pump that will be 5k please
A Toyota mechanic from Perth = Toyota regards these as a non replaceable and or serviceable item and should be fine for the life of the vehicle.

So now fully confused I read some of the posts by the Roo and still not quite sure I decided to PM him and guess what instead of a simple comment of “anyone can tell you that” which seemed to be as far as you can get before resorting to swearing I received some advise that I could understand, I also got explained the logic behind the advice and he even went as far to give me some indication on pricing so I knew what was realistic and who was ripping me off.
So I then went and followed the free advice and was happy with the result hence the shout out.
