Hema Navigator Charger Problems

Hi All,

i have the Hema Navigator HN5i, and i have burnt out 2 of the 12v chargers, i drove around with it in my 100 series for 12 months without a issue, but i have since done 2 chargers, 1 in the Prado and 1 in the Cooks' car,(focus), the chargers have gotten so hot it starts to smoke up, has anyone else had the same issue, i spoke to Hema this morning, and they are blaming the car, but 2 chargers in 2 different cars and no other charger has failed.

Hey Diksta,

I have had the exact same problem. I have sent the Hema back twice and both times they have said it was just the charger. I use it in many different cars for work and it just happened slowly both times. I changed to plugging it into a generic usb charger and that also did not help. Whats weird is that inside that little charger there is not much more than a few wires and a fuse.

Works now but don't know for how long.

i know, i can't understand it, it seems to happen when you are driving for long periods

Yeah it suddenly turns off and tries to restart but fails. Started off at long periods but would only stay on for a min or 2 before i sent it back. I had even plugged it into the dash usb plug and that worked for a few weeks but then it started to fail also. No idea what they did to my Hema but its working.

new charger turned up in the mail yesterday, see how that goes.

Wow sorry to hear that Diksta. Mine has been working OK lately but it has not had a lot of use. I hope you can get them to take a serious look at your unit. I am surprised they have not asked to see it.

Hey Diksta, sound to me like you may have a battery problem in the actual gps itself. Not sure if the hema runs a internal battery, but if it's eating chargers this is what I would be getting checked out. Goodluck in getting it sorted Kris
