  • Joe's Spur Track

Anybody successfully climbed Joe's Spur Track in Toolangi State park (down near Narbethong) ?

I gave it a whirl last weekend but called it quits when about halfway up I was starting to get stuck even with both diff lockers engaged.

It felt like I might be about to do some diff / axles / CV joint damage due to the roughness of the track

Might be a different story coming down but going up was quite a challenge.

Video doesn't really show how rough it was but gives you an idea...

Looks like one hell of a track! Did you have any issues with your lockers? Your compressor cutting in and out toward the end might suggest a leak somewhere.

Well not that I know of.

I did have an oil leak about 2 months after install and they pulled the diffs apart and diagnosed it as a 'carrier bearing preload issue'.

That was last week and since then it hasn't been leaking any oil when the compressor is turned off like it was.

I did wonder why it was doing that though. I'll take more notice of it next time im out and about and see if it does it again.

Well that looks like fun! Bit far for a day trip though :/

Was reversing down hill a little nerve racking?

Yeah it was! Much more so though than going up... Just much harder to see all the obstacles...
