New 2014 Range Rover Sport released in New York today.
Good looking bit of gear..... Though not sure I'd be taking it where I take my 120.
But I am thinking about a Disco 4 or a now superseded RR Sport SDV6......

Can I still play on this forum?

It'd be replaced with another medium size (Prado 95, Prado 150) or something larger (Patrol or Wrangler 4 door)... very hard call!

When I do eventually replace mine, I'm thinking of a Ranger or D-Max (washing mouth out). Don't need a wagon any more.

Hi John.....The Ranger have major transmission concerns and still not sorted. also injector problems with the D-Max. 150 not to many hassles really.

Next vehicle will be a VDJ76R in GXL.......i wanted one back when i got rid of my 100 series and should have bought one then instead of the Prado..........I like the Prado but it's a bit soft with too many weak points IMO.

Interesting you say that. I had a bit of a look at the Ranger after reading motor reviewers raving about it. When I saw the gadgetry and complexity, it reinforced my decision to stay well clear of Ford (and Holden for that matter). There will be issues requiring warranty claims. These two big manufacturers will do anything to avoid admitting a mistake and more importantly paying up. In my humble opinion, their attitude to their customers is about as deplorable as it can get.

I like my 1KZ blower, however when the time goes to upgrade, like Quicky I'll possibly look at the Discovery 4 range. It's good how you can accessorise the Prado, but some people just want full functionality right there, right then.!! The Indians (tata) seem to have whipped the poms into shape and the Disco 4 has rave reviews and reliablility of the previous 3 generations are drifting into the past! Only time will time but would rather go this way than a 150??

When you look at whats offering for the money that you would pay for a GXL, the Prado is a great buy. By the time you put the gear on it becomes a tough rig. My 150 in the Simpson, Flinders, and the Hay River never faulted and never looked like it would give any trouble. It kept up with the hiluxs and the 100 series that were on our trip. Sure the 200 series is bigger, and more powerful but for $20,000 more then say $15000 for gear. That's $35000 that comes out of your pocket. The Prado will match any 4WD that you put along side it. A Landy. Their history has not been good for reliability. Anyway just my opinion........

About to... I took delivery of a Kakadu in 2009 and kept it 3 years and then traded it on a new car for wife. Did lots of mods and 2 large outback trips. Loved it so much I am about to buy either an Altitude or a VX (most likely an Altitude) shortly, then let the mod's begin, ARB Deluxe Bar, HID Driving Lights, UHF, Dual Batteries, Cooper AT3's, and Suspension (if I get an Altitude).....

it has taken me years to build the knowledge up on my 120.. i maintain it , so far the 40,000 kays i have put on the clock,
has been mechanically flawless.. its a V6... 6 spd.( a clutch replacement . will be my first major mechanical repair.. ) till then ...

If they started to make the 120 series again id buy one for sure. I currently run a 150 GX at work and its ok, still has not grown on me but I can see where its pros and cons are compared to my rig at home. Ideally id be looking at a 200 series in the future once the second hand market becomes saturated with them and Ive got a family on the go.

                            Cheers,

                              Done that!

After 12 year's and 330,000 km sold our 90 series and purchased a 150. Happy with the decision although like others I wonder about the necessity of much of the electronics and their longevity. Time will tell as I don't change vehicles too often.

Had a 95 series TD for 9.5 years before buying a TD 150. The amount of electronics can be a concern but all new vehicles have them.

Any regrets, not really except the bush pin strips sound more expensive

Time will tell if it was a good decision and who knows, I may even get an auto Prado next time...........
