    Hi All,
I had a dig around behind the stereo and noticed a bridged loom which is two plugs connected together. From one of the plugs is a purple & red coloured wire. I think this is the power wire for the antenna amplifier. The plug is labelled "AMP".Click image for larger version

So essentially, I cut the purple wire and connected it to the 'remote' controller cable on the back of my new stereo. The remote controller wire provides a (+) power signal to an external subwoofer amp to run, I'm sure it is enough power to
      run the antenna amplifier.

Also, I'm 99.99% sure this is not allowed, but here is where I connected the 'park brake' signal wire. Essentially it is just an earth, to allow the DVD player to run whilst the car is in motion. I'm sure most of you guys have figured this out already though! (its the green wire with a ring terminal)

Steve your not a DH. I am! DO NOT CONNECT the purple wire. It is a speed sensor wire which links the gearbox speedo and ECU together and its used for the vehicles bluetooth system and speed sensor. I just collected from car from the dealer after it put the car into limp mode. I learnt the expensive way.
                Cheers

I'm so so sorry for laughing. I was groping around for a wire to trigger the volt / volt meter and gave up after finding one and then having the low range light come on! I gave up here and fitted the relay under the bonnet.

WOW Fronty, hope the cost wasn't too much ?? I havnt had any issues with mine so presume my assumption was correct and it is an extra cable for the grande head unit. Hope yours is all ok now. Im pissed as I noticed I marked/gouged the dash on mine pulling the silver trim out on the left hand side next to radio so now I need to get it touched up. I was rushing and caught the edge of it. My mate is putting me in touch with some one he use to deal with when he worked for the dealer so they can come and touch it up. Virtually unnoticeable as the dash mat covers the tip of the vent but still pissed me off when I did it...[IMG][/IMG]

Im lucky the Toyota dealer just charged me for the tow truck ($66). As soon as they called me, I knew exactly what was causing the issue - my failed attempt at connecting the antenna amp  The purple wire gets a reading from the speed sensor in the gear box to disable the Bluetooth phone book and settings on the radio whilst the car is moving.

Accidents happen Steve. My silver trim is scratched from the uhf cable. Need to find a close match in silver to respray them.
