From one police officer to the next may have a different view to what is legal and what is not. Getting defected on the side of the road for instance "having a 2" lift" on a vehicle with stability control by a police officer with no technical qualifications is ridiculous.
Me four. Would love nothing more than to run a 3" or 4" lift, diff drop and 285/70s but it isn't legal so it isn't going to happen.
Jeffers I was talking with a Dept against Tport engineer about a mod to my Clubbie. He didn't care and said neither would the inspectors but that wouldn't stop plod defecting the car if he wanted and while the inspectors would quickly get sick of it there was nothing they or I could do. It wasn't a mod that could be engineered either.
All I can say is there will be a lot of 4wd vehicles off the road if they wanted to get serious...
Maybe they should just bring in the yearly (pink slip) inspection (for QLD) like they have in other states. If you pass that inspection you're right to go!
That will also get a lot of the pieces of shit rust buckets off the road!!

I think that if the vehicle looks reasonable, eg. 2"lift, 32" tyres and clean you aren't going to create attention. The big test will be an insurance claim, I have had one that didn't have to go to the claim centre so no questions were asked, especially when the panel beater had a Hilux with lift and tyres
See ya on the tracks, Richo.
