I was browsing the other day & noticed the forum has 1337 members. Pretty impressive I thought until I saw that over 600 of them have never posted a thread.
I'm not suggesting for a moment everyone needs to give Chippy & Drew a run for their money & I know there must be plenty of people out there who just like to watch (so to speak).
Just curious whether any accounts are ever closed due to lack of use or if this magic internet thingy can just take ever increasing memberships on ever increasing forums. I know over the years I've moved away from certain forums and would no longer know my password nor the email address I originally gave having changed my email address numerous times.

i think a lot of them were from the early days when Aaron didn't monitor and approve memberships. back then there was a lot of auto signups..

would be interesting if there was such as thing as "last login date" to see if any get used...

or another interesting thing i saw on another forum was instead of post count, they had "time logged in" to show who had the least life.

        Members.

Statistics can be dangerous things.....and people with few posts (such as myself) may be just as passionate about 4WDing and the outdoors way of life, but don't feel the need (or have enough knowledge!) to post many threads.

This is a great site guys. I really enjoy reading and learning from other people but don't always hav much to say. There are probably many like me who appreciate their membership in that way....

best wishes for everyone for 2008

I wonder who would have "most time online"

            cue for chippy :!:

But yeah, I have been online and just flicked through it, Generaly by the time you go to add a fact or figure, someone has beat you to it.

            Jeff.

            :? Still waiting for Chippy

Maybe hes checking out the PAJERO forum....

Hey Simmo. I wasn't suggesting that we boot off everyone who didn't post & appreciate there are a lot of people in your shoes. I don't even know that its an issue space wise but if it was, then something along the lines of 2 warning emails a month apart if that person hadn't logged on or posted in the last 12 months. A confirmation email back saying leave me on would work & then those with no reply would indicate they are no longer connected or use the site & could be removed. Or even at automated system that had you clicking a box renewing your membership each year on the anniversary of joining. Like I say, if it's not causing a problem, then just leave it alone but it would be interesting to see what % of members post say up to 5 times a year, up to 50 times or say a Chippy category

                Membership.

                Just managaing.....

I certainly understand your comments. Its a problem with cyberspace. I don't think anybody (including governments) have a real grasp of it all. I know I am guilty of having too many email addresses and too many memberships and I think we can all get "lost" sometimes. I never know what PIN goes with what account and what password with what logon!

I think it's just a sign of the times. My kids are the same. They log onto Disney.com or something and sign up - using my email address - only to move onto another phase a few weeks later.

I just wanted to empathise the value of this site. Its greater than a quantitive (ie how many posts) measure. Holy shit - I should be a politician - that sounded reasonably intelligent!

Oh .. just a wild guess

Great graphical representation of the growth rate though Matthew.
Interesting to see almost 2 distinct growth lines .... the first from inception to around March '07 ... then from March '07 to now.

                          Top stuff mate.

                          Cheers
