  • I need to buy a compressor. What savings can be made at a camping show?

As the title suggests I need to get a compressor and was wondering what sort of savings I can expect to get by buying at a camping show, namely the caravan and camping show on at Maitland next weekend.

Also, although it has been probably done to death on other posts what compressor to get. I have looked at the TJM for about $220 and wonder if it compares favourably with the ARB at $349?

    Any information would be great.

    Thanks
    Ken

Check out 4x4 actions air compressor comparison. It can be found via google. Will definitely make you think about which compressor to buy.

I have had two ARB onboard compressors, one in my 90 series for the locker (and airing up) the other is waiting to be installed in the 120.
BUT... I keep coming back to my Bushranger Auto Max Air.
It might be because its still portable and not hard wired (therefor less current drop) but I find it does an easier job of inflating my tyres than the ARB ones. Doesn't labour as much as the ARB one.
Both are good, ARB mounts easier though...

10-15% would be the norm. Dont be afraid to ask, tell them you will buy it now with the discount.

This Pro Flow Dr Air compressor seems to be rebadged elsewhere. Example in Jaycar:

            Tigerz11 http://www.tigerz11.com.au/index.php...OMPRESSOR.html
            Ironman FloMax Pro http://www.4wd1.com/pumps.htm

Except it's a curly hose instead.

I bought the Thumper from Tigerz11 as above for my son. They are well built and perform well.

I think I will get one for myself when mine dies.

I need to get a compressor - wasnt too sure whether to get something portable or an ARB twin onboard. When I rang around last week, the ARB Twin Onboard is friggen exxy (fitted). At this price though, I can get the Dr Air (and use) it immediately without forking out the better part of a grand.

The Tigerz11 is $33 shipping to WA, therefore for the sake of $7, I think the Pro Flow DR Air is awesome value - especially with 5 yr warranty.

Anyone know the warranty period of the Tigerz11 out of curiosity?

Intersting you mention that, shodown. From the website it appears to be 24 hrs from receipt

Next question - anyone know the rated duty cycle of the Dr Air Pro Flo AC495? All I can find it an ebay link stating "25 Minutes @ 40 psi"

So you can run for 25 mins to top tyres upto 40 PSI, then what? Allow to cool for how long? I was hoping to be able to use this to top up 2 or 3 cars depending what people have compressors.....

                    Cheers,
                    Kevin

I have one of these I-Max compressors from this seller on eBay :-
                      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-2012-...item3f19c15550

At $89 if it lasts a couple of years you're still well ahead. The seller is good and replaced my carry case promptly when it arrived with a crack in it.

Mine doesn't have the gold coloured caps on the pistons as I bought it in 2011 but it is the same unit. I think a lot of these compressors are coming out of the same factory in China with different stickers on them.

To be fair I haven't given mine a full blown deflate/re-inflate test on 4 tyres yet but it works fine when I'm topping up the tyres. I like that it already has some rubber dampeners on the feet between the feet and the base plate, cuts down the noise a bit but it still moves around (on concrete anyway). The only thing I can't figure out is the inline control on the T piece, instructions are somewhat lacking in that regard. Also I wouldn't trust the gauge on it, I have an ARB one for checking pressures.

Cheers Fido - good to hear some feedback about the ebay cheapies. I think for the sake of it though, I will get the Dr Air unit, but will keep this one in mind for a xmas / bday present for the in-laws as they wouldnt use it as often....

For what it's worth I have had a bushranger max air for 8 years now and so far still going strong. Couple mates have them also with no issues at all.
