I need to buy a compressor. What savings can be made at a camping show?

On Monday I purchased the Dr Air. Based on price, warranty and reviews I can't go wrong...

Edit: delivered today. Didnt realise it would be dispatched from the Cannington store - super quick !!

I got a Dr flow with a free led leed light a few weeks ago for $189 delivered. Not a bad deal for the $ i thought. I'm happy with how quick it works.

I've got a KCI compressor and in the time it takes me to do my vehicle from 15psi to 40psi a mate with ARB onboard can do two vehicles, but as it was a freebe it will do me for a while.

I went to the Maitland show last year with intentions of picking up show specials on a bar/snorkel and compressor at the ARB tent. After fighting the crowds and standing around for the best part of an hour I finally got to speak to someone, they quoted prices not much below rrp, were not very helpful and generally not interested in talking to me. I ended up ringing around to local ARB stores a week or so after the show and got better prices on the bar and snorkel anyway. My dosh went on Waeco a fridge at that show, which did work out to be a pretty good deal.

I had a similar experience armed with a fistful of cash in the ARB tent trying to buy a UHF and compressor at the sydney show, they had the CKMA12 on sale for a u-beaut, show stopper, never to be repeated price, about $10 less than the RRP. I didn't bother enquiring about the UHF and went and spoke to Lake Mac comms instead.

If you want the ARB compressor just ring the Newcastle store and tell them you are a member of the pradopoint "club" and they will give you 7% straight up, otherwise you might have better luck with other vendors at the show as IMHO ARB are not worth the effort!

Buy the bushranger airmax....I've had mine for 10 years and has not missed a beat
it takes 10 minutes to pump 4 tyres from 18psi to 40 ps...
I bought it for $340 now they are $400.....money well spent...
as buy at the show equals no savings....

Portable Compressor

Commander in Chief - Naval Home Command (CINC NAG HOME) is asking what I want for my birthday, and I've been after a portable 12v compressor for a while. Any particularly good ones out there? Ebay has quite a few, but are there any brands or makes to avoid?

Dr. Air though its also branded as something else. Has been good for me. I decided to hard mount it in the rear cargo area next to my fridge. Replced the power lead and allegator clips with new cable, anderson plug and fuse. Has served me well so far.
