  • Great White 18 LED Round Driving Lights

    Hi all,

I am considering buying some Great White 18 LED Round driving lights. I have done a search and found a few post saying positive things about them but I am after a bit more info from anyone that has owned or owns some.

    Cheers

    Steve

depends why you want them .. they are Driving lights not spot lights. The difference being spots light up the road in the distance, driving lights light up the road in-front of the car. I have tried a couple of LED lights ,light bar ect .yes they are BRIGHT but only light up the road for 20 metres or so , no use if you are driving at 6okph or above you will hit something before you see it.

I have a set of Great Whites on my Hilux. Good lights but as raydes says, the don't have the distance compared to HID. They are overpriced for what they are - there are much cheaper LED options available.

Cheers for the replies guys. I was hoping dor something with a good spread but good distance as well.
Hopefully we are moving to the NT next year so I want as much light going down the road as much I can get.

          Hi Steve
As qujibo said have same great light up close but no distance. Get a lot of reflection off road as well, had hella compacts on and will fit HID to them and back on lux. Will fit great white`s to my work vehicle. Will fit a set of HID to new 150 when it turns up.
I sell the lights through my business and not recomending them at all.
          Cheers
          Charlie

Thanks mate. I might look at some LF HIDs then.
Possibly add an LED bar as well if the funds allow.

My ideal setup would be a LED Bar used in conjunction with my HID's. obviously nothing compares to the HID's for distance. I'd be interested in hearing about the actual performance of the new Ultra-visions new Raptor LED Driving light though

I contacted Ultra vision lighting about their new LED spotties. They sent me a 3-5 page PDF spec document. The only thing missing was how much flood they have. They seem to have great distance (around 1 lux @ 1km) but it makes me wonder if this completely defeats the purpose of LED lights usually creating a nice intense spread... so I have sent them 3 follow up emails with the same question asking about spread and no response - so my thoughts so far are disappointing customer service for a start and unclear specifications.

Why pay $735 each when you can get quality HID spotties giving the same distance if not more?

These use all new optic design given them more light output than normal LED
                lamps on the market currently!

RRP is $735 each (includes FREE lens covers & complete wiring harness)

                Regards

The great white round leds when used in a pair give fairly reasonable distance. But the spread and light upto 400-500m is truly insane. For me i run hid genisis 210's and a cheap ebay led light bar. Perfect combo of tight bush tracks and long outback straights.
2005 Black gxl 1kz, Steinbauer chip, ome lift, arb delux bar, Lightforce genisis 210's, 30inch led light, tigerz roof rack, GME 3540 uhf, genuine towbar, custom spare wheel spacer, ors draws, drop slide, waeco, dual batteries, twin locked, st maxx tyres, winch.

Soon to come-35's and longer shocks.

What about ARB's new LED spot lights?

                      http://www.arb.com.au/products/vehic...arb-led-range/

The marketing material looks the goods on distance/power and it looks way better than a light bar with a choice for spot/flood.

They would also fit in my 120 Sovereign Bar well and I can pension off my Blue Narva's to the old HJ47 I keep for beach fishing.

                      Has anybody tried these?

Is there any benefit for these over a good set of HID's which are going to cost similar $?

The ARBs look good but at $700 each they are definitely out of my price range.

My local ARB store has a set put aside for me after I told them i'd buy them but then changed my mind, they thought they'd still continue to tempt me though by telling me they're still there and its working haha. Apparently a huge waiting list.

I just don't want to lay out $1500 for the lights and be dissapointed. All the staff there have them or have experienced them and had nothing but good reviews... haven't heard/seen anything negative.

The distance is the only downside, they look like great short distance lights which is what i am after anyway for the windy dirt roads i drive.
