  • A Conundrum

So I get a call from a mates wife "the Prado won't start" "I think the battery's dead" no probs I say, I will be around in 30 minutes.

I arrive and ask " why do you thinks its a battery problem? She says "we'll it clicks but that's it, it did try at first but now nothing..."

Ok, so I try to start it, the batteries dead, no doubt. I look around and find he obvious switch knowing the Electrician owner has dual batteries and the standard red arc unit allowing the rig to start off the second battery. Immediate start, so I let the engine run a while and explain to his missus about the emergency only switch.

Now, because my mate is an ELECTRICIAN, I have a tester unit in the car so I check to see if his sin battery is holdings charge a few minutes after turning it off. Yep, read 12.6, just like a new one,VERY strange?

I talk to the lovely lady of the house who looks at me a little coy and admits she had the car radio on to listen to a song while she took the joeys inside. That won't flatten a battery I say. Well the headlights may have been on (may? Why is it may?) yeh, but that won't flatten the battery after 1 song...... After a bit of coaxing she admits it may have been an hour ( or MORE).

So, no new battery required and the wife of the electrician now knows how to start the rig after a heavy session of rock and roll with the headlights as party lights while the engine is off.

    Good to know

Anyway, my conundrum is do I tell the mate?

          Answer: Absolutely you tell him!!!

          Why??

          Simple!!!

#1 It explains why her number is on your phone in the first place?

#2 It will neutralise any gossip from the neighbours (obviously neighbours don't gossip!) as to why you was there in the first place whilst he was out!

#3 Things cant turn ugly in the future "IF" his neighbour tells him you "WAS" around whilst he was out and why didn't you/her mention it in the first place???? Lol

I would rather! "If was me!" (Obviously it isn't... Lol) Look more like the top mate that pulled his Miss's out of trouble and was there to help when needed! ... What a top mate!!

OR!!!... At least make sure that "YOUR" Miss's is fully up-dated on the situation so that "IF" his neighbours was to gossip that you would have a bullet-proof alibi! LMAO!

If neither your mate or your Miss's is updated with the situation then i think you better make your dog House comfy and make some new mates!!! LMAO!!!

Further more!!... what if "AJ120" story doesn't completely match up with yours or he holds you to ransome or he will dob you in!! .... And what if your mate was to log into pradopoint and found this thread??? .. Lol

Bad things do come in three's!!.... You, Her, Him!!! Lol

          Cheers

Busy day mate, must have been easier to fix the second time round, would have thought you might have done it over the phone?

I'd tell them to get the battery tested properly.
A bad battery can charge a bit & hold voltage & start the vehicle & go flat fast with the radio on.
A good battery, well it will be a long disco before that flattens it.

                      Sorry for the serious reply.

You could always just tell 'the electrician', lets just call him Matt, that his wife called you to give her a jump whilst he was away playing boats...

Great work Rob. It was good to see wife call hubby#3, whilst hubby #1 was away with work. However as hubby#3 couldn't get there for 30 mins, wife called hubby#2. Hubby#2 explained to wife that there was the battery link switch, and should she be able to push buttons(we all know she can) then simply push it, and start the car.
Wife couldn't find said switch so the discussion was for hubby#3 to call hubby#2 to agree on above proposal.

All in all, the issues was fixed, by good friends! And neither of us has to go round and jump it, whilst hubby#1 is away.
