  • what breather kit do recommend?

    Hey guys,

I am thinking of buying one of these kits off ebay, it looks pretty good what does everyone think? I realise you can buy cheaper parts and do it yourself but this is a convenience thing for me, it looks pretty good

P04 it is hard to say. I don't know what fittings they come with and what you will need for the manual. In the 120 section there is information about doing the breathers and Matt posted some pics of his 120 manual. I just buy the bits and do it from scratch. You will need a 1/4" BSP fitting (from memory) for the rear diff and I think others have managed to push the tube inside the existing hose for the front and automatic gearbox. I assume the manual gearbox and transfer case are similar to the auto in which case one hose is 1/8" so you will need to work out how to put the 5mm tube into the hose or vice versa. Have you seen the posts about diff breathers?

P04 these are the most useful, some 90 series and 150 series and D4D but good info all round.

This is the same kit that I purchased early last year and was recommended by Matt. Here's my link for it installed. http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post324564
You will still need to get a few fittings but the kit is is good value if you haven't the time to source the parts yourself. Should you do wish to get the parts yourself IFS at Rocklea (just behind the Rocklea Hotel) has everything you will need. Link here http://www.ifsaus.com.au and their online catalogued for the breathers here http://www.ifsaus.com.au/page0042.html

Not sure about 120's or manual 150's, but the auto 150 has 5 breathers. So unless you want to join 2 together via a "T" (which I didn't) you need to do a custom bracket as all the manufactured brackets and breather blocks I found only had 4 breathers.

The 120s have 4 breathers and as best I can tell the manual gearbox breather is just screwed into the top of the box. So right angle fitting will be needed. 1/8" BSP not 1/4" as I said earlier. P04 where in Brisbane are you? Fittings express in Brendale have fittings and kits. By the way if Craig says the kit is good value you can bank it!

The threads I listed and a couple referred to in those threads will give you all the info you need. The only tricky one in the 120 was the auto gearbox but you will need to remove the console to get to the top of the gearbox.

Forgot to add an important point about the IFS option. If you're in the area, don't forget to pop in to the Rocklea public bar for a coldie! The service is great! ( topless barmaids).

They are independently suspended for sure. Often though they aren't what mummy and daddy gave them!
