I'll kick this off.
1) Roundabouts - as a transplanted Canuck (Aussie Citizen as of 2007) still find myself the odd time looking to the RIGHT.
2) Progressive shifting - find myself doing this in the D-4D again, this comes from my time driving "crash boxes" 7 speed tour coaches. For an explanation, the shift splits were about 600 RPM, so shifting from 1st to second would be say 1200 RPM letting RPM build until 1800 RPM, then shifting to third and letting the RPM drop to 1400RPM. Rinse repeat. Though the Detroit Diesels only had a max RPM of 2500 RPM on this particular coaches. I should add no syncro - miss a shift and everyone knows. Though the advantage is, done right you only need to use the clutch once in first gear.
