  • Mickey Thompson ATZP3 & Maxxis AT-980 Update

    Hi forum peeps.....
Had a look at the new Maxxis 890's that look the same as the BFG AT's and was I impressed! .....they come in 265/65/17....almost no forecasted waiting list when they arrive in september etc. $260-$275 RRP...

As for the MT ATZP3 they look just as good! Muchly improved aggresive AT as you can get and both these brands look to have 117 load ratings etc and look to shed mud well....

Just thought id share this with the forum to generate comments both good and bad. ...

Disclaimer! Hhehehe. ...I run KL61's Kuhmos for the last 30, 000 klm without a flat and bugger all chipping coveribg two trips to the outback etc and numerous local hunting grips (read my posts)...so im excited to see one of the above tyres costing less than $300 and the kuhmos costing around $220.....

Your thoughts are welcome.....for info just Google the above for opinion etc.....

Any word on when the P3's will arrive? I have heard July, September & October from different sources.

thinking of getting a set for this car. Looking like I will be swayed from MT's this time.

In the flesh for what its worth....the 890 is achunkier and has deeper lugs and with wider gaps....not sure on compound of both tyres but the maxxis sound right for a lower budget and possibly will have no problems with supply llike mickeys or bfg have.....

Thanks for the pics. Looks good. I'll correct the thread title with the right model number for the Maxxis.

I've been please with my BFG ATs, but I put 275/65s on and that size was up toward $370 a tyre. I know a few people running Maxxis who haven't had a bad word so saving around $100 a tire means I might move to them early next year when it's time for me to change over. $500 in my pocket is a pretty good saving me thinks... Either these or Bighorns will be probably be my next pick.

Well I dropped into the local mt dealer today to inquire about the ATZ P3. Unfortunately was told they're still working on them too past ADR. So looks like they won't be available for 6 to 8 months BUGGER
