  • Tyre Deflators?

    Spotted these on BCF website:

    http://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/p...m=571659#Cross

Are tyre deflators worth having? They seem a bit pricey.

Yep too much....get cheaper elsewhere or get copy ones for a 1/4 of that and srill work....I just use a normal rapid deflator now....more accurate.

X2 for the rapid deflator. Gives me the flexibility to lower the tyre pressure to what ever I like rather than having a fixed setting on the Stauns.

I stand around and talk rubbish and laugh with my mates about who's going to need recovering while I take 5 mins to deflate mine with a std deflator.

I use the ARB Easy Deflator and can't fault it. No matter what px you want you can set your tires to it accurately.

                I use a stick.

Have used quite a few different ones over the years. Any Eucalyptus variety is usually the most durable and will last a few trips if stashed in the ashtray after use. The only problem is, if your trusty favourite has disappeared and you find yourself on the beach they can be hard to find. Usually resulting in the airflow limiting ignition key being used.

There are many things I would rather spend money on that tyre deflators. 100 more Lapua cases are much more fun that tyre deflators!

I use the arb ezy deflator too and it's great but I did have an advantage of the stauns pointed out to me the other day. They may take a bit longer but once they're screwed on, you get to stand around having a yarn while they deflate instead of being stuck head down trying to read the gauge the whole time.

Best ones that I have come across has been a ferret deflator. Made by a guy in Perth. Really quick to deflate, so you only need the one!

                        Stauns are good

I have been using my Stauns for the last 8 years and they have preformed faultlessly. I left 2 at 18 and set the other 2 at 24psi for bushdriving just marked the top with a black maker so I know which is which. I have heard an odd person in our 4wd club complain about them sticking open and flattening the tyre but they had dropped them in the mud and dirt previously. So if you look after them they will last for years and they do make it easy. I have never liked the idea of some of the other brands that take out the valves to let the air out them, they would have to be checked that they have resealed properly.

I use both... first point of call is the Stauns. Set to 24'ish for most off road situations.
After that, if I need to refine the pressure based on terrain I'll use the ARB ezy deflator.

Originally bought the ARB and then a couple of years later was offered a price on the Stauns I couldn't resist. Perfect combination
                            Cheers, Leon

Stains are good to get the ball rolling. Like Ron I have two set for 18 and two at 22. If I am dropping to 18 ish I can do the last few pissies with the tyre gauge thingy and check all 4.
