      Hey Mick,

The air flow meter is something that needs regular checking.
I went out a while ago and really, REALLY struggled to get up a hill, I lost all power. Went to the mechanic and he unbolted the mufflers and gave them a poke with a rod. So he cleared the muffler of crap and the car definitely improved in performance, so next time i'm in town the mufflers (at a minimum) will get changed over. Extractors and an exhaust is tempting though

      Cheers

After all that work and a new motor etc you want to sell it...
All to save $1700 a year.
My wife is an accountant and she would tell me ive got rocks in my head if I suggested that to her.
It would cost you that muvh in frikkin around finding a decent car in that pricerange.

BTW. My car runs 15ltrs/100ks on the highway... empty.

Its a 4x4 dude! Like all cars... they use fuel!!!

          Hi Dave
what was the weight of the Jayco

          Hi John
What did you clean the air flow meter with?
I used about half of a can [small can] of wd40.

Steve sounds to me like the air flow meter could still be dirty. If it's getting into 2nd gear to quick try loosing the gearbox cable about 5mm on the throttle body. Did mine and it changes a lot better and smoother.

The Jayco Outback Swan was probably close to 1600kg fully loaded. I find it really hard to sit below 100, saw 120 across NT which was expensive.

If I kept the car for 5 years that's $8500 extra in fuel over a Cruiser 4.2td plus what the car is worth. I could get a good 80 series 4.2td for that price.
Yeh dude they all use fuel, but a low powered small 3.4 modern v6 really shouldn't use as much fuel as mine is.
What I can understand from others is my Prado is thirstier than it should be so I'm trying to fix the problem at the moment so for now it's not for sale.

I understand the residue wd40 leaves on the sensor may not be helping your cause

My 2008 V6 has been up for sale for nearly a month now and not one enquiry. There is an absolute glut of Prado's available, some with really strange pricing. i.e. A 2008 Grande listed for $27,400 and a 2008 VX for $67,400 and everything in between.
If anyone is in the market to purchase then there appear to be some excellent bargains provided you do your homework.
I have now decided to remove my Prado from sale and keep it until I no longer need it. I will then give it to my son.

I had a 2000 Jackaroo TD for ten years, was a good car.
All those accessories wouldn`t help, lift kits and bigger tyres. they are heavier and have more drag all adds up.
Bigger tyres also affect gearing, I went up a bit in tyre size on the Jackaroo , from 70-75 series tyres I think , it had an immediate fuel economy hit by around 1l/100km.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

You are correct - its a buyers market for second hand Prado's, especially 120's and older. I looked and waited for about nine months and it was worth it. Plenty of sellers won't budge on price. The amount of times I came across - "Must sell! Price not negotiable!" Somehow they don't get that these two things don't go together. Months later their vehicle is still for sale.

Having said that, diesels seem to hold their value.
