My transmission light comes on when towing our van uphill. The van would be just under 2.2tonne fully loaded. Take it easy going up hill, but it seems to come on gping slow in thelower gears. Any recommendations for transmission coolers? Been looking around online but there seems to be a fair range of thicknesses. What's everyone using?

Been keeping the revs up? Keeping it around 3000 revs should help.
B&M make a bit thermo fan trans cooler, can use a thermostat to switch it on when it gets warm.2011 150series GXL -

do you tow in D or S mode, the manual clearly states to tow in S mode in 4th. I tow a 2140kg tare van even when fully loaded never had the light come on.stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.Comment

Driving in S4 or changing the valve body doesn't solve the problem of lack of cooling, the existing cooler in the radiator is crap. I bought a cheap thermal gun to check tranny temps and they are were really high even doing simple stop start driving. This has been extensively discussed in other threads.[B]Steve[/B]

I am just wondering if this is a prob more experienced with D4D-engined models ??
I have a 150 VX petrol that is bog standard, and regularly tow my 2 tonne boat/trailer all around Victoria. I also do trips up to south coast of NSW, which takes us over some pretty hilly territory (especially around Eden).
