Winch.
Hey Samo, on a serious note. Have you considered a hand winch? There are several advantages I reckon....
cheaper than electric, the money you save could go towards a fridge
you only have to lug it around when you are actually going off road - not around town
you can winch your vehicle from any direction
I mean really, how often do we use a winch. I spent 3 or 4 hundred dollars on a Terrain Tamer hand winch. Havent used it yet in a real situation. But I learnt a lesson last year. The one time I din't take it - I could have used it! Got stuck in some mud on a farmers property, and of course an electric winch would have been bloody handy then!
Now I always throw the handwinch in on any trip!Greg Simpson "Simmo"

i think a hand winch is a good idea but i like the idea of pressing a button to do the hard work for ya, besides i have use a turfor more times than i care to remember after working on conveyor belts for a few years. and now i hate them.had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

I've never used or seen a 'trifor' style hand winch being used. How long does it take to set up?
I have a hi-lift-style jack and some chain and shackles that might save me in an I'm-out-stuck-by-myself situation. I haven't needed it yet, but I reckon it would take a while to set up. (I have a dodgy little made-in-china hand winch as well, with a ~3mm steel cable, that'll help in a very-lightly-stuck situation.)
As for my fav accessories... well, I don't have much accessories... I reckon the humble snatch strap would be the winner!

It might only take 5 or 10 to set up but it will probably take you 1/2 hour to recover from using it. They also dont get you out of the bog quickly.
Thier advantage is that they are a cheap form of winch which can pull the car from where you attach it. ie front or back.
If you get into a long bog with a winch you can only go forward!!!!
Winch is electric
Hand turfor is strong man powered.
Air con is my favourite up this way, this time of year. Could not think of being without it. :wink:07 Prado GXL, D4D manual, silver and a fridge with constantly changing beer levels.
