After much research, many questions and assistance from these great people that make up this top forum I took the plunge and joined the ranks of the ARB fridge club (if there's such a thing lol). It's the 60 L that will fit if I go down the path of cargo barrier and draws.

No more ice for me Yippee!

Could someone assist me with some images of where they have placed the 12v fridge pug in their 120. I have yet to decide if its going left or the right so either one or both would be great and your thoughts and reasons why would be appreciated.

Power will be picked up from the 16 mm cable I already have out to the back Anderson plug.

Have a look at post #66 of my Rig build Harry which shows my Baintech unit & Anderson plug mounted in the right hand rear side compartment. Can't take the credit though as I copied Gumboot's set up. This Baintech unit is now discontinued but I am sure there are still a few units on display at 4wd retailers that you could make a cheeky offer on if you want one of these...
I have a 6mm cable feeding the Baintech and a separate 16mm to the Anderson which are both protected with individual circuit breakers under the bonnet.

If i was going to buy new, i would probably opt for the ARB. But the bloke a few doors down sold his 45lt engel to me for $300. It is not that old but looks pretty rough from being on the back of his flat top. Been working like a dream on 240 since getting it, will see how it performs on 12volt next week.

          Engel all the way

I have an Engel...... Brilliant it has had over 10 years hard labour by outlaws (father in law) who used it before us, thay have used it pretty heavily going away 8 to 6 mths at a time returning for a mth then headlight out again. It has been through extreme 4wd and terrains and high tempretures of deserts without ever missing a beat. It both freezer and refrigerates perfectly still, I have it in a custom slide out set up that is brilliant. I can easily get 3 to 4 days full bore on my ancillary battery before recharging ancillary battery that is with all other gadgets connected too. For me reliability out bush is paramount especially with two small kids under 4 wanting milk, etc before bed as well as keeping beers cold etc.. oh don't forget the "minister for war and finances champagne!". After having an Engel in the event it ever dies I'll buy another just on reliability alone. Cheers

I've had both Engel and Waeco and have been impressed with both. I lean to the Waeco because I find the lid opening mechanism easier and I like the digital temperature display.

                Cheers

from what I've been told waeco's are no longer the same. They are made with a different cheap chinese motor, so may no long be reliable.

I know that this has passed, but I have a Waco and an Engle. So far my 20 year old engle has frozen the goodies in it,Where as the Waco is still trying to catch up.On the side of the Waco it is in the back of the car in the sun.The Engle is in the Camper trailer annex.
The plus to the Waco is that I know the temp inside where as the Engle is a guessing game.

                      • For what it's worth, I bought the Bushman, you can change the lids to make it 35-52 litre, and it has a digital thermostat, and the fact that a couple of experienced 4wder's recommended it to me

My engel has a digital temperature gauge...... Had had more hits than Elvis and still going strong, it's mounted low in custom rack sliding off the floor giving easy access to Misses and no guessing what your grabbing - no spillages!
