  • Milenco Towing Mirrors - All Model Prados

Is anyone using these mirrors on their prado for towing? I found it strange these are not mentioned in the Pradopoint forums so thought I would post for discussion.

These mirrors just clamp to the top of the mirror housing just like the video. I had my reservations at first for my Prado 120 series but read some good reports on them from people who had used the Ora brand and the Aussie Truck mirrors in the past. They do not require straps etc. I Really like the idea of not using straps and magnetic strips etc which can potentially cause damage.

I brought mine for $129 (a pair) in WA which is pretty good for only part time use such a boat etc. They look pretty good and solid. Here are some links to them. There have been others who are using these on prados and the reports are good. Some report a small vibration but similar to other good mirror types.

I am travelling across Australia -west to east in the next few weeks so watch this space and I will give you my opinion of them when I get back.

Have not tried them. Saw them at the Penrith Camping Show last week in Sydney, was going back to talk to the owner but it slipped my mind until I had driven off.

I have the Ora mirrors, similar clamp, except I also have a strap around the back of the mirror and a magnetic plate down the side of the door. Have broken 2 small brackets so far, and have had the mirrors 'blow in' during strong cross winds, and some large trucks travelling too close to the centre line, so I have added a strap near the mirror and tied it to the bull bar. Just time consuming to fit and remove.

The Milenco one would be easy to fit and remove, about one tenth the time of the Ora. If they don't blow back in, I might give them a try.

wouldn't they be putting a lot more stress on the top thin bit of plastic on the original mirrors ??? Would hate the crack them.

OK here is my report on these mirrors.

I have just returned from Melbourne travelling to Perth (about 3500 KM) with the Milenco Mirrors fitted. I was towing back a boat. Towed though some shocking winds in Vic up to 75 km/hr or more then across the Nullarbor and it was also really windy and passed heaps of road trains.

In my experience I can say without hesitation these mirrors did not move and the view down the back and sides of the 2.3m boat beam was good. They were excellent and easy to fit and adjusted to how you like them. They are made solid with good aerodynamic shape (that's why they don't move). These are especially good if you do not want to go the strap system and are really easy and quick to fit and remove. I also like the fact that when I went bush in Norseman on a heritage trail I could fold back the prado mirrors and these Milencos fold in with them so the bush would not whack them.

Like some reports I had read prior they did have a small shake but it is expected and not bad at all. I thinks some of the other mirror version also shake a bit??In fact I watched my prado mirrors and they shake a bit so anything bolted onto them with a bit of length out the side will also shake.

They definitely did the job well. I Highly recommend these mirrors. I saw a number of these on the trip on other vehicles towing vans (They have a distinct tear shape to them). These will grow in popularity.

Just one thing trueblue, which model did you use, because I have seen 2 models advertised.

Thanks for the test report, my Ora mirrors take some time to fit and remove, so I will be trying these mirrors.

Yep it was the smaller size mirrors called:
Aero2 Towing Mirrors Extra Wide XXL.

They also come with a bag you can put the pair in after use etc.

Not sure if I can post this but I brought them from Absolute Caravan Care in Balcatta. (I am not affiliated to this business or owner in any way).

I have got a pair of Milenco Aero 2 mirrors. I have had them for 12 month and on numerous trips, currently on a 6 week caravaning holiday.
I can recommend them, the right side is perfect, the extra length arm might be handy for the
left side, but I don`t worry too much about it.

Not sure how they are compared to others, its my first caravan and its the only mirrors I have had, but I like them and don`t see then need to change.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.
