Was testing my UHF unit with my mate tonight and we had some interesting results we are trying to workout.
I have a Oricom UHF (80 channel) with a GME 6DB independent grounded Antenna (long white fibre glass thing), he had a GME unit (80 channel remote head) with a steel antenna with a curl in the middle (~2 foot) (not sure brand or spec's).
Trans and Receive within ~2KM was Good, but the further I got out my receiving dropped quickly but he could pick me up loud and clear up to almost 8KM.
So we are trying to work out if it is me transmitting a stronger signal or my unit not receiving well...
My thinking is that the Antenna Gain on my setup is better and that I am transmitting more power than him.....
Any advice?
Thanks
Bernie
