  • Stratco Verandah - Anyone got one?

    Hi all,

Looking at getting a Stratco (Outback) Verandah put on the side of the house for the toys, wanted to get some feedback if possible from any forum members that may have one already.

Happy with the quality of the product and the company we are dealing with, just not sure about pricing as I have no experience in this area.
So I am hoping some other members can share their experience and hopefully price for install.

The area I am looking at is 9 Meters x 3.5 Meters + another section off that of 4 x 4 meters (alcove), it will need to be tall (~3.3meters) so it will be a flat roof with support "through" the roof of the house (veranda has to extend above the house to get the height).

Price we have is ~$23k to do the work, sounded a bit high to me at first but from a couple of discussions with others it may be in the ball park.

Anyone have any experience in this area?

    Thanks

    Bernie,.

Whats the price for materials in that quote ?
Is it going to be mounted on a concrete base or are the post going into the ground ?

      It sounds around the mark.

I am in country SA, and had a 13 mtr x 6.5 mtr Stratco Gable roof pergola put on 2 yrs ago and it was about 13k for materials & about 4k for labour or thereabouts. We paid other contractors another $4k for concrete and 4k for 5 x Ziptrack blinds down 1 x side.

Thanks for the feedback, keep them coming...

Graz, the quote was outright all materials and install including Concrete foundations for posts.
It does not include complete slab, we are going to do that after the Verandah is done just in case we need to drop it down a little...

Pog, thanks for the information. Was yours free standing or attached to a house? (was it a complex layout?)

        regards

        Bernie

Are you saying they did not give you the cost of materials ?
Just a quote for the complete job ?
If they did not give quote for materials i would be getting 1 from Stratco myself before i did the job.
You only need a good handyman to do this job.
So you could save a fair amount in labour if you ask around.

We've got a 6 x 10 Solarspan Pergola which is fantastic. The roofing sheets are a dual skin, bonded polystyrene panel which looks great and most importantly, is very cool in summer. We've had ours since we built the house in '97 and would have it again in a heartbeat.

Mine was attached to the house down the long side. It was a fairly easy design, having said that, I was more than happy to have the trade put it up for $4k.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I will push for a price reduction and see where we go.

Willing to pay more for good work but don't want to get ripped off.

                thanks.

                Bernie.
