Hi RanJ
Seeing both you and Bourkey are in Melbourne I'd pm him and ask him to have look at your situation.
A few things to simple it down for you
1. you can get a storage unit with same star ratings as the instantaneous units, dearer to buy but cheaper to install
2. what size gas line do you have coming out the wall? if its 20mm you should be ok (depending what else you run on it, in Sydney a 20mm line will run everthing but we don't get as cold as you in Melbourne)
3. how many bathrooms do you have? if only 1 you can use a 16lt, if 2 -3 a 26lt

It's been in for 10 years and hasn't missed a beat.
We have a 5,500litre LPG tank and over 66,000 gallons of rain water hooked up to the house.
Sometimes it really does pay to live off the grid, so to speak.
I would install another one in a heatbeat.
Great for the kids, even mr 3yo can change the temp for his own bath.
You can make the temp go down whilst the hot tap is running, but not make it go up, so there is no risk of burning.
Ours is set to a max of 50 in the bathroom and 55 in the kitchen/laundry.
It uses so little gas. We swapped over two identical gas freeloader units with two identical rhine instant hot water units, one has the 5,500 liter tank and the other had the 90litre bottle attached, the 90 litre previously would only last 6 weeks, and it ONLY ran the hot water. With the new instant unit, it was lasting14/15 weeks.
Best of luck.2005 Diesel Funbus Driver
