I just watched an add for the new prado , I've seen it a few times now . And with that front grill it looks like it comes from a low socio economic background and smoked tooooooo many cigarettes as a child . Sort of like it belongs in Collingwood or Miller or Cartwright or somewhere near a denture clinic . The term hillbilly springs to mind . Then again I never did like the 120 without a front bar . But then again nothing could be uglier than an FJ cruiser .
03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

On a serious note the road noise in the 150 is significantly lower than my 120 which is something quite a few 120 to 150 convertees have noticed. And the third row space reduction is due to the increase in space in the second row. Rear vision is lousy in both but the camera helps as do the new mirrors. The non opening rear windows were a surprise though. As for fuel consumption I never take any notice of the computer. The 120 and 150 are kitted out similarly and the 150 is better on fuel. I know it is the same engine with same specs but in the auto at least the transmission / engine calibration is different. Haven't put this one over a weigh ridge so I will take the weights as read but our 120 was 2.6t with two on board and full tanks.

Pretty simple solution, if you don't like it don't buy it. No need to try to convert anyone to agree with you though...

I agree 100% i am not trying to covert anyone but pointed out some actual figures! ... Look them up if you don't believe me!

I have yet to see a 150's do more than 100kmh on the freeway?

On average i "Always" do 120km on the freeway which means i am actually doing 116kmh on stock 265/65/17 tyres.

I still ave 8Ltr per hundred ... What would it be if i cruised at 100km? ... I wonder?

        Cheers

PS I did say i was being cheeky and having fun!

SkyWalker I know you were stirring the pot. We averaged something over 11 in 140,000km (or was that 130,000? Cannot remember) and the 150 is below that and closer to 10 for the first 18,000. Easy to check since we use a fuel account. I haven't seen a new one in the flesh but the looks wouldn't put me off, I work out what I want and then find the best fit. This time it was a 150, next time? Who knows.

What road noise? When I get down to Perth and drive along the freeway my car is perfectly quiet with no rattles or squeaks.

                Maybe that could be a new ongoing thread;

I am talking about the inherent noise in the cabin, not rattles or squeeks.

That's what I was referring to as well. The only noise I can hear with the windows up is the wind through the roofrack. Oh, and the missus snoring (don't tell her I said that).

I have a 120 VX. Brother has a 150 GXL. We run the same 265/70/17 BFG tyres. ARB bars, snorkels and winches. Same lift. The 150 is much quieter in cab, mainly wind noise. The 150 uses less diesel the the 120. Both cars have third row seats removed to accommodate the fridge and storage systems.
The 120 looks far better in my opinion and that's why I'm keeping it.

I have a 2006 model diesel but am not willing to upgrade not because of the shape of the150 but don't want to pay $60000 plus for a car which has an engine basically decades old

v6 diesel. I would have to reconsider, ponder for a while buy one and cut and shunt something to the front.

The whole IFS issue is quite sensitive for a chap like me. i live in this extreme country and i drive from capital to mine sites quite often. i am sure many of you do the same but mongolia being so cold in winter and hot in summer just does not work for 120, 95 or 150 for sustained travels. what we want is something robust and before i even had a chance to buy a new truck, the whole market is being valished before my eyes in few successive years.
Defender, Y61, TLC70 are all but vanished (special thanks to Australian invested mining projects) i just cannot see myself driving jeep with petrol engine through 500km strech with no petrol station and hauling my heavy a**, ok i think i nailed the point here.

Just taken ownership of my very first Prado (new facelift and all), and am so far very happy with it. Destined for some serious off-roading, after suitable mods have been added. But I can sympathise with experienced Prado owners - no one ever likes the shape of their car to change!! Criticisms? Yes, it's high time for a new, more modern, higher powered diesel donk. And (even after putting on BFG A/T's) the suspension is surprisingly city-soft. I suspect after I hitch up the new off-road van (next week), I may be in need of a little OME work....... But, hey, I like the car (even the new "liquid bronze" colour - AKA metallic brown).... still waiting for ARB to release their new bull bar for it.
