  • Sydney pricing on Mickey Thompson ATZ P3

Just wanted to see what prices people have seen on the new P3's from MT. Im struggling to get a good price in Sydney. Brisbane Members are lucky with Ace Tyre & Auto Care selling 265/70/17 for $385/each.

However in Sydney the best price I have been able to get is $410/each from Goodspanner/Opposite Lock in Brookvale. Has anyone seen better pricing anywhere? PM if you cant post publicly.

Not any help to you but may make you "feel better"......285 70 17 was $515ea and 265 70 17 are $485ea.....at TJM Darwin NOT fitted........

They look to be a good tread pattern........good to see if someone gets them and if they go the distance.

        Try a Goodyear service center.

I got a price up here (Gold Coast) for STZ's in 265/70/R17's for $349. I'll be buying from them for sure. The other places I got quotes from were only a few $ under RRP (around $400).

Try Tempe Tyres, they have had the best prices for tyres every time I have checked in past 10 years (for 4WD and 2WD).

I've been quoted $425 for the 265 70 17 ATZ P3's in Sydney. I also got a quote of $380 to buy them in Melbourne (I believe different states have different importers and some 'price fix'). I'm heading off for a 10 week trip to S.A. shortly so might pick-up some tyres on the way through Melbourne.

The best I managed was $408 from Payless tires in Frenchs Forest. Your theory on different importers sounds very true actually.

MT's are a bastard to get now, anyone that sells Coopers is now not allowed to sell MT's (even though they come from the same factory and same distributor.

I picked up 4 of the superseded ATZ 4 ribs (265 70 17) this morning from Cornell's at Bexley for $315 each - fitted, balanced, including front wheel alignment.

I believe they are a 'grey' import but they are 121/118Q, made in USA with a manufacturing date of week 5, 2013 - virtually identical to the tyres they are replacing.

Except, and happy to be wrong on this one for your sake, I've been told if its not an Aus delivered serial #, you have no warranty with MT. 99% of the time this isnt a problem anyway. However just retelling what I've heard.

Yep, totally agree, 'grey' imports can have warranty issues whether they are cameras, tyres or anything else. But with most things in life it comes down to a judgement call.

I've recently bought a new Nikon camera body - $1200 with a two year warranty. I could have bought a grey version for $1000 but I thought the saving (17%) wasn't worth the risk.

However, with the MT ATZ tyres, I've just had 50,000 kms (possibly 10,000 kms off-road, low pressure) with only one puncture (plugged) so I'm confident in the product. Warranty claims on tyres are usually tricky at the best of times. And the price difference means I could destroy and replace one tyre and still be in front. In this case I thought the saving (20%) was well worth the risk. I hope I'm right! :-)

Agree 100%, don't question your decision or outcome at all. I probably would of done the same.
