  • Genuine Lightforce Gensis HID 35x vs 50w Comparison

Interested in purchasing a set of genuine Lightforce Gensis HID spot lights, however, not entirely sure whether I should be going the 35w or the 50w units? The price difference is around the $200-300 mark so not sure if its worth getting the 50w considering an increase of 15w.

    Any feedback would be appreciated!

    Hi Fungi2003,
I fitted the 35w version after some advice from the retailer where I purchased them from, he suggested that for the very little night driving I would be doing, the small benefit I would gain using the 50w wasn't worth the additional 200 - 300 hard earned dollars! I'm really happy with my 35w Gensis and was glad I had them when I was coming back from WA across the Nullarbor and had to do a bit of night time driving.
So I guess if you anticipate doing a heap of night driving, might be worth a look at the 50w, although I haven't had the opportunity to compare the difference, I liked the fact that the sales person was providing honest advice rather then chasing the sale for the more expensive product.

    cheers

    Aido

The wattage of the globe is only one decision you have when choosing HID lights. The other thing to consider is the K (temperature) rating of the Globe. Many say that the 6000K globe gives too much reflection from roadside signs etc. When I converted my Narva’s to HID I went with the 4300K 50w globe and am more than happy with the performance. A quick look at the Lightforce site doesn’t give a K rating for their globes.
