  • Repco Projecta solar panel Easter sale

Was looking at solar panels at the caravan and camping show but got confused by quality and prices so put the purchase off.

Repco now have a sale on 30% off Projecta solar panels.

I'm looking at the 120w folding panels. Cheaper than any where I can find on the net. Reviews seem good. Any feedback here?

What type of dollars are they "charging" with the 30% off?

Best I found on line for the projecta 120w was $599

Best quality for price at the show was 12v direct but that was the large metal frame folding version for the same price. I just preferred the lighter and more compact travel or blanket type.

I've had these 140w panels recommended to me, only $219 too :-

Not quite as compact as the blanket type but a helluva lot cheaper and have good quality panels.

Thats very exxy for a set of panels.

Much cheaper to be had on fleabay and you can get a better MPPT controller for about $50 as well.

Yes, you do pay a premium for the blanket type, however the reduction in storage space required is well worth it for us

Yep, I haven't convinced myself that I need solar panels yet, but if I did get some I would pay the extra for the soft fold up ones.

Those seem cheap compared to others I have seen and Projecta seem to sell decent stuff.

                Cheers Andrew

                    Hmm...

Bitdeals do get talked up on the caravanners forum! But I don't agree with their warranty conditions:
"For warranty issues products have to be sent back to us, in original packaging and with all manuals and accesories, with copy of eBay invoice and description of fault."

My biggest concern after the C&C show was that there was a HUGE difference in quality, claims and price. I'm dubious about buying on line without seeing the item first. Even with bitdeals good feedback, I'd rather see the panel first hand.

The difference I saw in some online retailers was ridiculous. Some looked like they'd been put together by a kid learning to solder whilst others looked great and cost the same.

I cant understand how Engel and ARB are so expensive versus Projecta when it comes to the blanket type though. So I'm not convinced brand names or expensive is the right way to go either...

I do agree the Projetca MPPT looks basic, but maybe it does the job?

My only concern from using Projecta was their "can" style inverter for charging phones and laptops. Died for me charging a laptop, was replaced under warranty and then died again, so I took my $ back. But using their battery charger and 600W inverter had no problems. And I can go to any repco and they can deal with projecta for me if it all goes wrong.

That is a big plus for me. The fit squeezed in to my camper tool box or beside my fridge in the car. The folding ones take up considerably more room! But $$$$

No problem, just wanted to offer a source to answer your query about the quality of the folding kits, which people on Myswag seem to like. Myself have the traditional hard folding kit, which is big and heavy, compared to the new folding kits, but as you said $$$$$, but with your space issue, your best solution

Sounds like Repco is a bargain until the 9th, before they go back up to $785
