Rhino Platform for 120 Series - Maximum length?

G'day Peeps
About to put the roof rack on my 2009 Grande ready for touring and have decided on the Rhino Aluminium Platform (and am open for other Options?).

The questions I have are around which is the best option/s for a 120 Prado, especially if I want to add a roof-top tent and have any room for other "stuff" etc.?

So far my options are:

Option 1/ Fitting a Rhino Roof-rack platform Part no.42105B - (2728x1468mm) if any one has done so what had to be modified. I would like to fit this as I need the room... or is it simply too long?

Option 2/ Fitting a Rhino Roof-rack platform Part No.42104B - (2128x1426mm) which is the platform recommended and most likely the one I have to use - has anyone fitted this Rack and what has been the results?

Option 3/ Any other options

I am taking off my Factory rails permanently and fixing the Rhino Rack direct to the roof rails on the Prado when we go touring...

Any ideas advice and feedback - AND... is there a better way to go/are there better Options- weight wise/efficiency wise/economically??

The 42102 fits directly onto a 120/150 Prado.
42104 and 42105 is too wide in my opinion and 42105 is waaaay too long.

I fitted 42103 which is 1 slat wider than the 42102.

The bigger you go, the less you can put on it due to the weight capacity of the roof. So a 42102 or a 42103 would be the ideal fit for the 120/150 Prado.

I agree with Andrew. the 42102 is the way to go.

Have one on my 120 GXL with RTT and also room to carry second spare and awning.

Photos posted 19/4/2011- Roof top tent on Rhino pioneer platform.

It is a GREAT set up and has not given my a problem over many rough tracks.
I set the tent up a little off the the back to give cover over the rear door (Stuffed cover of RTT between roof and rack) and room for the second spare at the front. You can get wheel holder from Rhino.

Weight is right on the 100kg limit for the roof.

Just updating ya'll re my Rhino platform... after a lot of research I ended up at TJM Nerang where we discussed my need for the 2.2mtr platform.
The guy there said yeah that's ok and advised a 42107B 2128mm X 1296mm along with the SRW2D3 legs direct onto roof rails.
She's on (they fitted it) looks brilliant and very strong. Added the Front/siderail kit as well.
So very pleased.
Next the ARB bar/winch/lights/protection plates/

Hope you kept the OEM factory N/S rails. You can get a little money for them?? Otherwise it's going in TJM's Xmas party funds!! Thanks for keeping us informed and thanks for the pics....

Looks solid enough, and would be 1/2 the weight of the steel ones, allowing for more weight on top. might pop out to Nereng and check it out to, would suit my black rig as well. how is the wind noise ?
