  • Favorite driving music

    Hi all,

heres a new one for you! Whats your fav driving music? the songs that take you to a place when you hear them, the music that you listen to when churning up the kms when getting to or from the fun bits?

ill start with couple of mine. years ago when i was taking a group of people to the Gammon Ranges for a 7 day walk someone stuck a cassette into the player and just as we were getting into the spectacular drive through the gorges U2s 'where the streets have no name' came on.

now everytime i here it on the radio it takes me to that moment!

others recently downloaded from i-tunes and onto the cruising cd:
    paul kelly roll on summer
    bob dylan hurricane
    silverchair straightlines
    dave brubeck quartet take five
jj cale and eric clapton ride the river
    iggy pop candy
the cruel sea this is not the way home
archie roach took the children away
nick cave and the bad seeds breathless
    pigram brothers blue bay blues
booker t & the mgs green onions
    and many more

    cheers all

ps. anyone know why i cant use the emoticons?

Go to your profile by clicking the profile link at the top of any page and look for a setting ------ Always enable Smilies: yours will be off, click it to on.
    Should do the trick :P

I agree with your choices above, and when I choose driving music it covers anything rock from the 50's to present day bands.
    Particularly anything Aussie !!!!
Go the Angles, AccaDacca, Masters Apprentices, Nick Cave, Crowded House, Powder Finger, Cat Empire, basically anything

Depends, I can cruise to almost anything but when having a ball some Tool or RATM never goes astray!

depends on my mood, our music collection has everything from classical to metal the only thing we don't tend to listen to is that rap crap doff doff stuff.
Cold Chisel is always popular as is anything from the 80's. At the moment Pink is in the CD player yesterday it was Garth Brookes.Tomorrow it could be Nickelback or Pearl Jam.

i've got an MP3 disk loaded up at the moment but it's got a bit of everything on there.... Billy Joel, U2, Keith Urban, Andrea Bochelli, Lionel Richie, Kenny Rogers, and a heap of new stuff too with plenty of Doof Doof... just depends on the mood...

Keith probably gets the most air time though...

Triple J is about the only radio station we've got programmed in! I love it, we listen to it untill we can't pick it up then bring out the Ipod. U2, Live, Audioslave, Jack Johnson... but no doof doof.

Used to use my MP3 player but now with the new head unit I just load up some USB sticks with MP3s and use them instead.

I mostly listen to 70's & 80's music but have some fav songs from the 90's and now on them as well. I am just an old rocker at heart so I like stuff from Deff Leppard, Quiot Riot, AC/DC ( hey Mark from Greenacre, spell AC/DC ),
also really enjoy ELO, Eagles, Wings etc.

This is one of my fav comic clips. Actually the link I first put up is a shortened version so I found the full version and edited my original post to point to it. Poor Mark he will never live this down as long as the internet is around.

Im actually surprised by the taste in Music of pradopointers.
Ill pretty much listen to most things except top 40, even on the odd ocasion "doof doof"(but not often).
It all depends on the mood, usualy what ever is on triple J. But any thing from Metal (coal chamber, Pantera, metalica) to solo artists (Jack Johnson, Sara Blasko, Darren Hanlen, Xavia Rudd).
But I usally find Metal suits a road trip pretty well.

Recently on a trip down to the Stirling Ranges and Cape Riche our crew got a blast out of Billy Connolly's 1995 Perth show recording. Lucky we were in the middle of nowhere though....... drifted off the road a bit I was laughing so much......... Otherwise Icehouse or Powderfinger. Good driving music that.
