Have not long bought a new 150 Prado. I have just looked at the video on this forum of one being drowned in Nolan Brook. I therefore ask, if one gets stuck in deep water with the electric operated windows shut, is there a way to open them to escape the vehicle . I suppose the answer is to not go anywhere near deep water or if you have to have a window open. Would these be the only solutions. Are the computers and electrical components waterproofed to some degree as the whole vehicle seems to be computer controlled.

I always cross water with downstream windows open. If you lose power or get a short you're stuffed. I've heard of electric locking doors locking shut too.
I will be getting a window breaking/seatbelt breaking device too just in case (yrs ago a woman near us burned to death after an RTA and the seatbelt buckle jammed).[SIZE=2]120 GXL D4D Auto, with a 'List of Wants' greater than the 'List of Needs' greater than the 'List of Haves'

How many times do you see a drowning vehicle with someone fumbling with shackles and straps while the vehicle fills with water?

Yep windows down is deep river crossings 101, not necessarily just down stream either if you have passengers also maybe in the back, if things go pear shaped badly you want everyone out ASAP. If for whatever reason you don't wind down the windows first and get stuck then pull the head rest out of the seat and use the steel stems of the head rest to break a window, or carry one of those little hammers designed for just this occasion. Don't worry about the damage to the window as if your stuck in deep enough water to stop the electric windows working then your Prado is a write off anyway.
