Genius! I could have used one of those this winter. I have a huge pile of rounds up the back but buggered my shoulder at work 2 months ago and haven't been able to split them.

WTF, lets just pack a few extra kilos to split logs. Try an axe.

Amazing invention that seems obvious once you've seen it!

Great idea for those with part-time 4wd or a 2wd rig.

              i like it!

although to chock the rear end up, remove the wheel, attach the device would take longer than 'grab the axe'...

The website says around $250 from memory, but postage from the good 'ol US of A might be an issue!

Wouldn't it be (more) dangerous on a PTO? I think you'd have trouble keeping it balanced and at a 'reasonable' speed...

Are you all serious? It may have limited value if you need to split a few hundred logs in the middle of nowhere. Other than that it it glorified scrap value. A block splitter is
                    1. safer,
                    2. lighter,
                    3. takes up less room,
                    4. is usable in 2 seconds compared to 10 minutes to set this monstrosity up, and
                    5. Takes a shite load less time to pack up.

and don't try some stupid argument about sore backs or war wounds. If your not capable of swinging a block splitter you won't be getting that on and off any time soon.

mlc you are totally missing the point. I can hook it up to a slasher gearbox and a custom frame to split wood and the rest of the time I can reverse around pretending to be one of the Thunderbirds!

Is it just me or was any one else waiting for the toggles on his hoodie to get wrapped up on the spindle?

I stopped liking landrovers when they stopped making them with a rear PTO.

Hmmm 150 - 250 rpm, PTO at 540 rpm, slasher box around 3:1. Looking good...

$650 plus second hand gearbox, bit of steel, high temp glue...

                            Not so good.

a bloke at from Europe was telling me about these things.
Looks great, appears to work great.
Then he told me how many accidents there have been from using them.
he believes they originally came from eastern Europe.

that is the cause of most of the accidents people get hooked up and dragged into them.
