It's really a shame common sense opps there is that word again..... Should be rare sense as few politicians posses it! Ok that bull bar pictured s bloody ridiculous, sorry but over the top and not necessary. I rang Tuff and had a chat with them. Their bars are legal by law - they are also issuing letters to owners that call them to that end in the event they are pulled over by the police. It is not at all hard to police really, it should be based on residency and/or need (ie outback stock agent etc) if you live the majority of your time or you are a resident in the city you really are hard pressed to justify a big ass bull bar period unless you frequently go outback. Sorry just common sense. If your worried about parking get nudge bars or tow bars etc. I'm referring to these soccer mums with bull bars and never go bush ....book them they are dangerous as they have a false sense of invulnerability in and around school zones - yes you can see a problem in that regard. It's getting it all in perspective. We have friends with a small farm 10k acres that run cows etc all there vehicles run tuff bars. They have stated time again how those Tuff bars have saved their life on numerous occasions including cow hit! Unfortunately you get these arm chair worriers like the politicians and safety council fellow that claim they go bush when they visit centennial park in Sydney or toronga zoo and have no idea of living regionally or the challenges or Roos encountered or have lived in real outback for an extended period of time. Yet they try to dictate to the masses their opinion based on studies often tainted to their liking. Seriously how many of us have hit Roos unreported that these clowns don't know about. If they where half intelligent they would do a yearly count of road kills to fatalities ratio to see the effectiveness of bullbars and the lives they save. I can tell you this.... Ban bull bars and fatalities through Roos would go through the roof. As to pedestrians etc and to laws I say simply this.... People should be accountable and responsible for their actions and decisions sorry ... For too long now it has always been somebodies, societies, unfortunate up bringing or whatever excuse these blinky lawyers concoct. We got to get back to reality here as unfortunately in Australia we are becoming seriously over regulated where it is becoming redicilous to live. In closing I've been to numerous accidents involving pedestrians and vehicles and seriously we arenot designed to be hit by either car or bull bar period both return same results. Why don't they spend the money on pedestrian education or start booking pedestrians j walking in the city etc especially idiots on mobile phones that walk straight out..... Seriously..... We've lost the plot as a. Society.

I've come across this document issued to examiners and inspectors in NSW for bullbars. Indicates what is illegal and not. Basically you've got a two year exemption period to get your bullbar compliant. ie forward sloping bars get a two year grace exemption tolerance if your vehicle was built post 2002 and it protrudes forward no more than 75mm/9 degrees.
For those of you with light bars - brackets can't protrude above the top or in front of the face of the bullbars - page 11
BUT no mention of number of posts allowed. Just angles and protrusions (unless I missed it)

5 posters were banned in WA a few years ago but I see they have made a comeback, especially up in the north.Last edited by Bushbasher; 23-12-2014, 07:30 PM.Dave
