Begs the question - what problems can I tired old SCV cause?

I take it premature wear on the new injectors not getting a smooth fuel delivery? Other issues?

Actually, good point about premature wear, thinking out a-loud here, faulty scv / when sticking can cause high or low fuel pressure, right, higher pressure than required, depending how far out it was it may cause premature wear, but i'm not sure I don't think it would make much difference.
correct, not smooth fuel delivery, can cause it to run rough.

other issues I know of:

Faulty scv can cause: 1. stalling, 2.rough idle, not starting, rattle & more.
It may throw a P1229 code. engine light would be on.
