Well after installing a Airtec snorkel on my 150 prado myself the Brother-in-law asked me to instal one on his hilux. Sure I said and he arrived today with payment in hand (carton beer). this shouldn't take us to long!!!
1. Well first thing no label on package box.
2. How much was this said snorkel $90 (alarm bells were in the distance)
3. No instructions.
4. It had a template(like my airtec) but no hole size indication and didn't line up with the panels to well
5. cut the main hole and drilled the others according to template. Surprise surprise went to check how it fits on vehicle. NO GO some holes were 15mm out. anyway with a couple of new holes drilled all good(glad it wasn't my 4wd).
6. you could barely push the snorkel into the piece in the guard or for that matter the filter box.(thank god for the dremmel)
7. didn't really line up with door pillar well(a bit of manipulation all snug)
8. it came with 3 hose clamps only 2 were usable as one end of the inside guard bit was never going to be able to have a hose clamp on.
Lesson learned although he may have saved $350ish dollars on my airtec I will never be looking for a cheap alternative to the main brands. I may have been unlucky(I doubt it) well all in all it looks good and to anyone else fine. how long will it last(ill keep you posted).
PLEASE be careful it may save you a few bucks early on but may/might cost you in the end.luckily all holes are hidden under snorkel because the drivers side guard is definitely a lot like swiss cheese.
