                      Moreton Is

                      Hi Hutch
We went to Moreton about two years ago and looking to go back.We stayed in a house at Bulwer which catered for two familiers and cost $120.00 per night back then.Moreton is far more basic than Fraser (other than Tangalooma) and less Tourist. The sand was very dry when we were over there and had to let the tyre's down to 18psi which made a big diffrence from 20psi.There are some good sheltered beaches on the western side, but watch the tides as the western beaches are narrow and you can end up stranded for a couple of hours. The Inland Tracks are far more of a challenge than those I experienced on Fraser.Make sure you go up to Cape Moreton and back through Bulwer as this is a good day out.We never made it to the bottom of the Island to Kooringal as the tide was against us.
Moreton is a totally different experience to Fraser so go and enjoy.

                        Hi Hutch

Did Moreton a couple of years ago as well. Description as per the previous post. We camped up the top end of the island looking up towards Bribie - great spot for safe swimming if ya got kids.

We were there in October and the sand flies were very vicious - so be prepared!

4WD action DVD did a feature (about an hour) on Moreton about 6 months ago which gave you a pretty good look at the island.

                          Hutch

We stayed at the new "Deep Blue" units at the end of the jetty at Tangalooma 12 months ago. I think we were on the 3rd floor, in a 3 bed 3 bath unit. Location was great, being a bit away from the general resort area. I think it was over $1200 for 3 nights. The restaurant is very expensive for what is on offer. We went over on the catamaran service so no 4wding but there is plenty to do. We went quad biking, snorkelling at the wrecks, a bus trip to Cape Moreton lighthouse and plenty of beach walking.

                          Will definitely do it again.

I'll be on Moreton over the long weekend in May (Labour Day). Yota, is that the same time you're over there :?: There'll be a few of us as it's my mates bucks do.

What's the go with getting off the ferry on the island, is it a 2nd gear race across the soft stuff? I suppose it depends on the tide :?:
