  • Milwaukee 3" Orbital Polisher

I polish my 3 vehicles every 6 months, so between them it is a lot of polishing! (especially the Prado, much bigger than the others)

I have been on the lookout for the perfect polisher, but I never wanted one of the large 6" inch professional ones that are corded and too unwieldy to use carefully.

I finally found the perfect one! Milwaukee have just released a small 3" orbital polished, with variable speed and discs/buffers included. Best part is it's from their M12 cordless range so no cords following and rubbing across the car while you buff.

By hand the 14 year old Prado paint has always felt 14 years old, this morning I tested my new toy out, and it works so well! The paint finish is perfect, no swirls!

I recommend it to all! I only use Turtle Wax polish with no cutter/abrasive, its protection only.

shop around for internet price of $138 then went to my local Total Tools and they did it for $135.

Same for battery 2.0Ah M12 battery is about $58.

I had the charger previously due to other Milwaukee purchases, so I didn't need that, however I saw on the shelf of the shop, a charger and battery combo for $99.

I was considering the Ryobi Polisher :- http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v...isher_p6210551

Is the Milwaukee that much better? I don't have any Milwaukee M12 bits so would have to purchase the kit, it's $269 at Total Tools.

                      hey fido,

My main issue with every other orbital was the 6"+ size of the discs, I used a few couple years ago and they are very unwieldy to use and hard to aim in the correct spot.

Using the Milwaukee, I have found that it takes the same amount of time to do as if I were hand polishing, however, I don't have a sore arm at the end of it, and for my 3-5 hand swirls, the polisher has done hundreds, so I get a much better finish.

                      Since having it, I have had it used on;

                      1 flat red 370Z
                      1 flat white holden ute
                      1 flat white toyota prado
                      1 metallic white mazda car
                      1 metallic silver mazda ute
                      1 flat white boat

All have come up the best they have ever been polished.

I didn't have the battery either, but you only need 1, I get about an hour of polishing out of it.

                      1 x 2.0AH 12v M12 battery was $59 from Total Tools.

Thanks for the feedback Samuel. I would need the charger as well, hence the requirement to purchase the full kit. The same goes for the Ryobi but the large amount of One+ tools available that work off the same battery and charger makes it an attractive option. I'm know the Milwaukee M12 system also has lots of bits available but I don't recall them having gardening tools (i.e. chainsaw, pole trimmer) in that range.

yes definitely!, if you need other garden tools the ryobi is probably the better option!
