Insurance for camper trailer

With our camper trailer about to get its shakedown trip, we have started to think about insurance for it.

What have others done? Is it added onto the vehicles policy or on its own?
Being an "Offroad" trailer, will the mainstream insurance companys want anything to do with it?

G'day Mick

We have our other home and vehicle insurances with HBF so, when we got the camper trailer, we approached them to discuss insurance.

They now have us fully covered ... as similar to caravan cover .... and include accident, theft, emergency accomodation, towing, contents .... agreed value - $29,500 .... anywhere in Oz ... including off road travelling.

There are companies that specialise in caravan and camper trailer insurance. We have our camper trailer insured with CIL. The policy covers the trailer and contents, and includes an amount ($2000) for items not attached (such as kitchen items, annex, etc).
