    G.day everyone,
    my name is Giorgio and i'm from Sardinia, in Italy.
    I bought a toyota 120 prado 30000 d4d my 2003 with automathic transmission three months ago and i'm because my car (that i love!) has two serius problem...
    one in the central differential lock system and one concerning the hig fuel consumption!
    I hope you may help because i have finish my ideas

        Hi, thank you for your answer.
        The worst problem is sure the electronic lock system....
        Three months ago I resolved it in part with more patient... I disassembled the electronic engine behind the center differential Carter, and I opened it. Inside it there was many water and mud as the vent pipe of the differential was broken and the water came inside. So I cleaned it with a spray for electrical parts and I reassembled it according to the instructions.
        Till two days ago it worked very well. Two days ago, when I turn on the engine, the gear selector was stuck in Parking position and abs, epc and other lights control in the dashboard were on and in error. I turned off the engine and as soon as I turned it on, everything became normal. But the electronic engine of the central differential doesn't work.
        What can I do?

          Other problem is very high fuel consumption... About 5/6 km/l in media.
          I checked diesel injectors and they are in perfect condition.
          I changed the air mass regulator in the air box, I controlled all brakes and it's all normal... Yesterday I closed the egr valve and I cleaned all intake system and the intercooler too.
          The ecu of the car is the original and there isn't errors.
          The car is little tuned:
          Suspension lift (5 centimeters), front bumper and winch.
          I have the catalizator but I don't have the central muffler.
          The Strange fact is that there isn't a continuous high consumption.
          It changes without any apparently reason in the same use of the car.
          For example if I go from A to B now it's possible that the consumption is normal, about 10 km/l (i check the consumption by refiling the tank and dividing km:lt). if I go in the same road in the same condition, the consumption is more high... About 6 km/l or similar... There might be something that makes the carburetion in error but really I cannot find it

            10 km /l is what you should expect. We use l/100km as the unit down here for some reason.
            Does the car roll freely along flat ground or does it slow quickly?
            I was thinking there may be some resistance in the drive mechanism (eg transfer case stuck in 4WD)

              Yes it's all free. I tried to push it by foots with the gear in neutral position and all is free.... I checked the brakes too aND there aren't any problem...
              For a famous rally customer, expert in Toyota prado diesel the problem maybe can be caused by egr valve... Now it is closed, I hope that it is a good solution...
              Writing about the electronic lock system:
              I remembered that when the abs and other controls make in error, I listened a little scratch sound. Now I think maybe that this sound was caused by the electronic lock system. Inside it there are many gears that move the lock pin... It's possible that controls error caused an innatural movement of the electronic lock system?

                Hi.... Little breafing for the consumption problems.... Yesterday I went out for a little drive, about 130 km. The diesel consumption result is 11 lt/100 km.... I hope to have find the solution for the problem....
                There Is still the problem about the electronic motor of the differential lock....
                Tuesday I'll try to disassemble it and to reset the position of the motor in the pin in the back of the central differential

                  i didn't find the solution of the fuel consumption my media is about 13 lt/100 km ... little better but no good.
                  the strange fact is that if I drive fast or if I drive normal the fuel consumption is the same! i don't understand where is the problem

                  about the center differential system, i solved the problem!!!! there was a problem in the assembly of the electronic motor! here there is the explanation whit photos.
