Someone's trying to log me in...

It appears someone is trying to log into PP using my username.
This worries me. I am a fan ad the notification email I received though.

Dear Spilsy,

Someone has tried to log into your account on PradoPoint - Toyota Prado 4x4 Landcruiser Forum with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 117.169.1.185

I had the same issue a few days ago. They were doing it at 2:45 in the morning. Its a bit unsettling, but really, they are just having a go. Probably looking for e-mail addresses and possibly to link your password with your e-mail account. It won't work for me as I have different passwords for almost everything, I don't think its too sinister, but then who knows?

Yeah. Not the most ideal thing to happen. It's somewhat creepy.
I've changed my password just in case, and it's now more than 10 characters....that'd take a bit of cracking...

It's random and happens on all websites.
We have an app in place that looks for "compromising" passwords of users that are too simple.

My paid version of Malwarebytes has found a threat from "Trojan.Agent.ed" and prior to its removal I had some problems with Excel files.
The beauty of the paid for copy is that it runs in the background all the time, whereas the free copy needs to be manually activated.

It has stopped several attempts by others similar to the one mentioned at start and has been via Skype.

I too had the same issue last week. Looks like a brute force. Probably some dictionary file hoping to get lucky.

PP can prevent such attacks from being successful by using Captcha or allow members to monitor which devices/IP addresses they can/can't log-in from.

Well you are logging in over http which is not secure. So all that you transmit is in the clear. There is no transport protection on PP.
