  • Reverse winch

I was looking at different winching techniques this arvo on YouTube and came across this one which I thought was pretty cool. Has anyone had a chance to try this.

Flogger - if it was a Nissan or a Toyota it would really be stuck, lucky we've got a Jeep.

Yes, I've done these on 4WD courses that I've run.

The YouTube technique works but there are 4 main limitations:
      - length of cable
      - number of anchor points required
      - number of snatch blocks required
      - mechanical advantage is high but speed and actual pulling distance are reduced.

If you are considering doing lots of backward winching a hand winch is always good to have. A little more bulky but all it requires is one anchor point and off you go.

... and the force will be trying to stretch your chassis.

I was hoping the Jeep would tear in half despite the physics.

If you check out his Cape York video, he has to tow a fellow Jeep through the Krebs track after it broke down crossing the Daintree in 6" water.
