    I voted with my D4D manual, but wonder how common the manual will be in years to come with the improvements of auto's.
    Will there be a manual at all as maybe the police might say that changing gears is too much of a distraction like everything else.
    07 Prado GXL, D4D manual, silver and a fridge with constantly changing beer levels.

      I for one enjoy manually changing gears and I feel that it helps to make you more aware of what the car is doing. I hate the way that modern cars are taking the skill out of driving.

            If mine wasn't a daily driver I would prefer a manual over the auto but city traffic would kill any joy of the manual I think.

              I'm with Big Kev too. Cars are becoming too easy to drive which removes any real understanding a driver might have about conditions and how to handle them. I for one, don't want to be falling asleep on my way to work. Rush hour certainly hammers the clutch plate but I choose to see it as a challenge rather than a pain. Human living is becoming dumbed down frighteningly fast as we now need to think less and push buttons more.

                I dont think its got anything to do with dumbing down, its about using the best tool for the job, the best tool for the job in most off road conditions & heavy traffic is an auto, a manual great in a sports car around the twisty roads, so for me driving the swaying Prado through Brisbanes peak hour traffic & for off road use, I see the auto as the best tool for the job, there are only 2 down sides I see to an auto: 1/ increased brake wear due to lack of engine breaking, 2/ Lack of engine breaking. Its anoying that Toyota havent caught up with modern transmision technology & given us a decent auto shifter with a manual option like on the Pajeros which have had that option since 2000, but thats Toyota, always slow with adopting new technologys, give them another 10 years!
