I would have thought having your prius stolen once would be a god send, three times means you are a slow learner...My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Why the freezer? Isn't the fridge an equally good Faraday cage?
And if you use the fridge instead of the freezer in the US you would find that 37% of Priuses would fit in the fridge and you could leave your keys in the normal place so you could find them.

I think the freezer is a really bad idea and only part of the solution. For one the freezer will kill your fob battery very quickly, secondly my car is mobile and I park it in lots of places other than next to my fridge. In fact my car is more secure in my garage than other locations. So who's going to buy a signal amplifier and try out the theory ? it all sounds a bit bogus to me, I cannot image teenagers getting that sophisticated, gees what happened to the good ol'days of getting your window smashed...

It's so much more fun going into people's homes whilst they are asleep. There's always an unlocked door open. You simply sneak in whilst they're snoring, pinch their car keys, wallets and mobile phones. Then you drive away in their car. No damage. Easy.Dave

The best way to secure your FOBs is in a metal box that has RF shielding layered inside it. As someone has said, the freezer will kill the battery very quickly.
This type of crime will become the norm soon when most people pick up on it. I was chatting to a family member who was in the Army doing tele-coms and he said YES.. it can happen very easily with this simple devicePrado MY14 150 Series Altitude - Rhino Pioneer rack with backbone system, Tint, Fuel Manager Pre-Filter Fuel/Water Separator, Mann Provent 200 oil catch can, Toyota 2.5T Tow Bar, Scangauge2, TJM T3 winch bar, Narva HID 225, Polyair Air bags, 2" lift (Bilstein & Kings), Uniden 7700 with GME AE4018BK3, 32" LED Light bar, 2mt Awning, 1100mm Treds with mount plates

You can buy kits from Jay-car and build them to higher spces.
Imagine sitting in your car in a busy shopping centre carpark.
If this is going to be a big issue here Toyota should make sure that the car pings the FOB every 30sec when in Drive. If no response from the FOB, the car shuts down, alarm on etc.
This will only let the car go a few 100mt once the signal amp is out of range from the FOBLast edited by evltoy; 17-04-2015, 09:53 AM.Prado MY14 150 Series Altitude - Rhino Pioneer rack with backbone system, Tint, Fuel Manager Pre-Filter Fuel/Water Separator, Mann Provent 200 oil catch can, Toyota 2.5T Tow Bar, Scangauge2, TJM T3 winch bar, Narva HID 225, Polyair Air bags, 2" lift (Bilstein & Kings), Uniden 7700 with GME AE4018BK3, 32" LED Light bar, 2mt Awning, 1100mm Treds with mount plates

With my 90 Prado, if the keys move further than 20 metres (approx) it will shut down. Lol can actually be a pain in the arse but it also means if my wife drops me off somewhere and continues on, we won't forget the keys. Can also be dangerous though if she attempts to pull out into traffic and the car quits.
