    Accessories rant

    Why is it after spending the best part of 60K on a car you are then pressured into spending more on uneccessary accessories?

    Rustproofing for one, are Toyota selling me a car thats going to turn a rust bucket over the next few years? I doubt it.

    UV window tinting also gets my goat. First off the rather pushy sales lady must have mentioned the words 'Skin Cancer' at least 10 times.
    I find this rather tasteless and unethical, trying to play on the fact that my family would suffer the terrors of skin cancer if I didnt buy this upgrade.
    If Toyota care so much about my health why is this not free? In fact there is so much fuss made of skin cancer in the media etc why dont the government insist on all new cars having this by law.

    Paint protection, why? Is the paint going to fall off as well then?

    Also when you go to trade in these vechicles do you get more money for cars with these upgrades....no...of course not so why bother.

    When the sales lady realised she was not going to earn much comission from a cheapskate like me her mood certainly changed! (although I did buy the GPS/rear camera, but at least I can see were my money went there)

    Incidently I will get the window tint but not from pushy Toyota.

    I do hear what you're saying Pomp but don't blame Toyota as a whole. It's the dealership trying to make money on extras. From what I understand aren't all dealerships just franchises?

      That is funny, had the same thing happen when i went with my brother in law to buy a car, they try to sell him every thing under sun and we kept saying no then we started laughing she was trying so hard. Then she got sh%ts big time and basically turn around and said to us "i am obviously wasting my time here." and gave us the big brush off.
      I think because she has blonde and half hot she could sell us the world. Wrong!!!!

        These are the tactics that most car dealers use to sell their rediculously over priced protection packages... A decent bird with half her breasts hanging out to suck you in! When I get to this stage with the salesman I tell them not to bother!!! Have been through it too many times!

        It's all a load of BS with these products, you're really only paying for an insurance policy on rust and paint protection, the product would do little to protect against it, especially the paint protection which comes off with your first polish :roll:

              I see your point, but I must say when I bought my Nissan 3 years ago I found the sales staff to be excellent. Thats why I bought the Navara they seemed so laid back.

                That's classic, and oh so true :!: When I picked up my Prado from the local 2nd hand dealer, they got a female sales assistant around to try and flog off a few accessories. I declined and thought I'd shop around elsewhere rather than be pressured into a sale. I never thought of the fact that it was her assets trying to sell me the accessories :lol:

                      When I looked around deciding on my next car purchase, i dropped by a Holden dealership and I had to wait 15 minutes for no one to assist me. So I went in and found a dealer and had to nearly drag him out from behind the desk to show me the friggen models.
                      He didnt even know which one was the higher quality build. He says he has been doing this for a couple of years and was an expert in the field.I think he was 21 and he got a little offended when I walked off laughing at him. Speak no more.
                      SSSHHHH be very very quiet were huntin wabbits.

                        What the!?!.... Geez man I got ripped.......

                        I got a fat guy with B.O. issues selling me the extra's. At least you lot got the 1/2 hot woman trying to crowbar some notes from your wallet. Be it wrong or be it right.... I did get the rust proofing and paint protection through Toyota as well as the UV tint. Although, when I went to pick up the Prado the cleaner told them all that my Prado was missing the paint protection. I wouldn't be surprised if a 1/2 hot cleaner was the brains in that office either. My Prado was "lost" for 1/2 an hour or so as I waited to pick it up after having the paint protection finally done. Fatty ran around asking where the heck it was and left me sitting in the waiting room contemplating the prospect of going back to square 1 at the new sales desk. This, after I'd moved heaven and earth to make it to the dealer before closing. Turned out it was across town still in the workshop of the place that did the paint protection. Fatty was stinkingly apologetic though. Had to come back the next night after work to pick it up. Someone 1/2 hot making all the stuff ups would have at least been something

                            Funnily enough this is exactly the job a friend of mine had a while back... oh, and it was straight after she had some nice flotation devises installed :shock:

                            She was doing so well with the sales she moved to a wealthy part of Sydney to continue her ways
