  • I'm issuing a challenge to all of us and our half finished projects...

Over the weekend, SWMBO told me that we need to talk. Which as usual is to be interpreted as me needing to sit down , shut up and listen to all the ways I've been screwing up.

Apparently... I have to many half finished projects scattered around and she is going to do something she doesn't like doing... nag me to finish them. I was scolded heavily when I chuckled.

Now I figure I'm not the only one here that has a similar problem. Start something and then life gets in the way... 12 months later it's lucky if it's been looked at again.

So I'm going to post up some photos and descriptions of my half finished projects and I challenge other members to do the same. We then work together to motivate each other to complete them. I'll make a short template that we can use outlining what the project is, why it's not finished and other details and then we can harass each other till they're done.

    Anyone else brave enough?

Just for the Prado's or around the house too? Could be long and messy

Ian... I'm talking about everything. Apparently my wife has memorised my measurements scribbled on the laundry wall for the new cupboards. The boxes of tiles that are waiting for to be laid on the front doorstep.

This was a discussion I had not long ago. You can imagine the look I got when I told her my plans for the Prado. It was an even worse look when she worked out I booked it in for some work.

Thats the spirit my man! Keep up the hard work. I think my balls are buried somewhere in my wife's handbag.

Trick I've learnt... "hon, couple of things need doing to the prado. Once I've finished that stuff you wanted in going to concentrate on that. " also don't forget it's easier to ask for forgiveness then permission.

No seriously, it's easy to pick the wife that has a propensity to keep nagging, she is the one with two black eyes.......

Stay off Pradopoint for a week and dedicate all the available time to the jobs and they will all get done.

If you stay off Pradopoint for a week there wont be enough time ever to get up to date with all the new posts on Pradopoint.

                    I see the problem.

Why not lay the tiles that were for the front step on the walls of the laundry and then she will forget about the cupboards.

My conversations usually start "Honey.." after which I am brutally cut off with "What have you done now?" She always seems to know. I don't know how she does it?

But with 3 kids most of my free time is taken up with something family oriented. Project time is severely limited

                      Project Status:
                      Chook run - complete
Tile bathroom splashback: Business case approved 2009 . Tiles purchased 2009. Tiles still in box in laundry
Home network and Microserver - complete
                      Back up 120 DVD's onto microserver - 2/60th's complete
New garden bed 1: Dug winter 2014. Still to be planted
New garden bed 2: Business case approved 2014 - Not started
Repaint Veranda ceilings - 1/2 done
Repair toilet roll holder - not started
                      Repaint bedrooms: 1/2 done
Repaint living areas in house - Business case submitted for review
Decking and Pergola - Drafting business case
Prado Improvements - No end date

Well, it's good to see that I'm not the only one with a nagging wife !!!

Some years back, the wife bought a new car, wanted mudflaps on the back wheels, not standard issue, so I bought a pair.

Wanted her car to fit them, but "No, I need the car now, you can have it later." (therefore not my fault)

Asked subsequent times, and usually received the same reply. (again, not my fault)

Mudflaps put onto a shelf in the garage, gathered dust, car sold 5 years later, wife finds the mudflaps in the garage, "Well, that was a waste of ****ing money." Probably the only thing I neglected to do (honest) so I cannot understand all the whingeing.

From memory, I have done everything I said I would do (the idea is not to state a time limit or a completion date)

Yowie... you claim to have finished every project you started except for mudflats which weren't your fault? Not human.

                            I think I only have 3:
                            • Strip and repaint our Bar stools (3 off) (started about 2 months ago) - I'm not one for re-purposing something old, I usually just buy new, but these were free. 1 stool has been stripped and had 2 coats of primer (the minister for finance did the painting bit i did the sanding bit)
                            • Pull out western garden's plants and replace - I'm halfway through, though this did start last weekend.
                            • Make shovel holder for roof rack (started when I built my roof rack) - they're rough fabricated - they need some grinding and painting - then i can weld them on.

Its funny - all my car related projects get done very quickly...its the chore like ones that are neglected.

My car ones are the exact opposite because there is no way in hell I could dedicate time to the car when there is stuff around the house. I usually sneak car stuff in when I have a slow moment at work.
