  • Charging an EXTRA $100 to see the tip. What do you guys think?

I think with the price of fuel and the already $100+ ferry fee that is plenty to pay to get to the tip. Checkout this link below.

It's the way the country is, tax, charges, stamp duty, fees etc etc........
So I don't care, you can't or you will be in worry & upset everyday.

Make it $500, keep the tourists down a bit
You know for any people it's a huge trip, if $100 makes any difference or makes it unaffordable then you shouldn't be going.

So, going off what you say, we should be paid to visit places like Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide!

Yeah well that's right if we have to pay to go in, than they should pay to come out.

I also heard when I was up there in 2013 that there was going to be a bridge built over the Jardine river, maybe that's why they want to charge the extra money because they won't get anything from the ferry after that happens. Maybe/maybe not, not sure.

I'm surprised there isn't already a levy imposed by the locals for accessing their traditional lands.

I agree. Anyone doing that trip is out laying a reasonable sum of money already, so an extra 100 really shouldn't be a problem. You're not going to drive all the way to that area and then not spend that last little bit because of 100.

I know i wont pay $200 for a photo of the sign. $100 ferry + $100 fee. Ive got my photo the only reason to beyond the Jardine is for the photo. This will stop repeat trips past the ferry.

I can sorta see it from both sides.
Sure, it's a bit crappy bunging on an extra cost when you have out laid so much to get there in the first place.
But then if it raises a little bit more and goes directly in to preserving the area for future generations to enjoy, then I'm good with that!

Much better than the alternative & shutting it down.

What about the WA govt slugging us $12 car access fee for each park, or buy the all park pass.
Plus the $12 a night per person per night. So for 3 of us for 2 nights without the pass was $84. Now we went to 3 parks so $252 for 6 nights.

                    RIP OFF.

Hope this doesn't come to all parks in QLD as for now, not including the sand islands camping is approx $6 per person per day and no vehicle pass.

                    Rusty.

Get out and see Australia before the govt tax the **** out of it.

Its $150 for a pass to cross the Simpson.

Aboriginal communities have had funding cuts about 18 months ago of $500,000,000. Despite all the hype about money for nothing it is not quite true. I don't have a problem with the fee. I have a problem with the restricted area no access policy of some communities though. It is "OUR" land and if its not within 200 metres of your principle place of residence then its OUR access, with respect to the property as should always be the case. If you nomadic on that land then different rules but no funding for housing, domestic refuse disposal, food, vehicles etc. Simple really.

I am with MLC. Fees are fine [try driving anywhere around Sydney without tolls] BUT all of the the major roads/tracks should be accessible to all. Afterall it is our taxes in one form or another and/or from one level of govt or the other that pays for those roads. It is the access rather than the fees that is the real issue. Earlier this year I went from Alice to the west coast via Finke Gorge area, Gary Junction Rd, Telfer Mine Road [good roads, great trip to take by the way]. No fees but I would have paid them anyway BUT I really object to having to get a permit to drive publicly funded roads. If you want to go somewhere special put up with the entry fees as you do to all sorts of places but at least give us reasonable, non bureaucratic access eg the Public Access Routes model of South Aus.

Someone has to pay to replace all the copper-logs that those f-wits burn on their campfires. And to pay for the removal of rubbish because many f-wits can't be bothered taking it out with them. And to pay the wages for the park rangers to go around and collect the camping fees because some dishonest f-wits can't be trusted to put the fee into the little envelope at the arrival kiosk. I could go on. I don't mind reasonable fees.
