  • Need help ASAP - aircon not working after water crossing.

So I crossed Awinya Creek easily enough but managed to suck water into my aircon system. Filled the front passenger side floor up and drenched the pollin filter and filled my centre console from the air vent.
Normally I'd wait till I got home, but the two kids under 4 aren't real happy with the heat and no aircon working properly.

Rear system is working fine, but won't pick up the slack well enough.

Blower motor seems to activate, but then switch off when you turn the aircon on.
    No fuses blown.
Climate seems to recognize the temp as you can see the fan gauge rising and lowering pending temp setting.
Blower won't engage though to pump air.

Help please someone. Need the wife to relax.
    Cheers

sounds like the blower could still be swimming?

Nah, pulled that out already and it's still good. Put direct power across it and it still works. Thinking resistor maybe.
Weird thing is, when you turn the aircon on, it starts, then shuts off.

maybe try the old turn off on again trick? pull the battery for a few mins and see if that 'resets' anything

The following is applicable to a late model 120 with climate control, it may be different
in other models, the blower speed is controlled by a "linear controller" and power to
the motor is controlled by the fan relay. Both of these are controlled by the climate
control ECU. It appears the climate control ECU is located on the left hand side of
the dash up high, the linear controller is mounted on the left side down low, if
you got water in the car it would seem the linear controller would be the most
likely unit to get a bath. If water has entered the controller and it is a typical
"can" type it will take it a very long time to dry out and will probably be Kaput
anyway as electronics and water don't generally get on well together

          Cheers
